How to make a Christmas tree stand? Five solutions to the main New Year's problem. How to choose fasteners for a Christmas tree, make it from improvised materials and decorate? Cross for the Christmas tree with your own hands made of wood

A live Christmas tree brings the holiday spirit and smell of the forest into the home, but it also brings a lot of headaches when it comes to installing it. In this article, we will offer simple and functional solutions that will solve this problem once and for all. Check out these five wooden Christmas tree stand designs that are easy to make with simple blanks and a minimum of tools.

Crosspiece for small and medium Christmas trees

The first project is a classic wooden cross. Its main difference is the absence of a half-tree connection, which eliminates the need for complex marking, work with a chisel and the subsequent hassle with fitting the connection.

A reliable and neat cross is made from four simple blanks - two boards (60x15x2.5 cm) and two square trimmings (15x15x2.5 cm).

We determine the place where the boards will intersect. In our case, we measure 22.5 cm from the end of each board.

With the help of a square, we apply the markup.

We do the same with the second board: we measure 22.5 cm from the end and mark it.

We impose boards along the marking lines, and check the accuracy of the fit with a square.

We connect the crosspiece with four screws or self-tapping screws.

Along the edges of the top board we fasten supports from square scraps.

We apply cross markings to determine the center into which the main rotor will be screwed or a wide through hole will be drilled.

Drill a pilot hole.

For small Christmas trees, a 120 mm through screw will suffice. If desired, a wide through hole of the required diameter can be made with a pen drill; a depth of 5 cm is enough for the tree trunk to be firmly located in the cross.

Glue the felt pads. They will protect the floor from scratches and add stability to the cross.

The next project is a simpler, but no less reliable version of the Christmas tree stand. The uncomplicated cross, assembled from four boards without unnecessary joints, will provide a stable support for a tree of any size. Using a board with an uncut edge, the traditional question: how to close the cross - will disappear by itself. A lively edge will add a decorative touch to this uncomplicated design, and make it a natural extension of the Christmas tree. After the holidays, the elements of the cross can be easily disassembled and stored until next year.

From a pre-prepared board with one planed edge, we cut 4 blanks of the same length. We focus on the size of the Christmas tree: the larger it is, the longer the boards will be needed.

We drill guide holes in the faces and ends of the workpieces, which will avoid splitting when tightening the screws.

We assemble the structure on a flat plane and tighten it with screws. We drill a pilot hole for the screw, which will fix the tree trunk.

A simple and expressive style cross is ready.

The third project is a simple and sustainable wooden stand which can be adjusted to suit any barrel diameter. The crosspiece consists of three supporting elements. The optimal length of each part is 250 mm. In the face of each of them, two parallel grooves are milled. The ends of the boards are cut at an angle of 60 °, and shallow pilot holes are drilled in them for screws with wide washers. It is convenient to store collapsible elements of the cross in a compact stack until the next holiday.

Milling grooves according to pre-applied markings.

Tall tree stand

Four elements cut with an electric jigsaw according to the template below will easily turn into a beautiful and stable stand that can withstand a Christmas tree 2.5 meters or more high. The design is pulled together with screws screwed into pre-prepared holes, and is also easily disassembled without taking up extra space for storage. Under the stand, you can place a water tank so that the spruce stands even longer and continues to fill the house with its unique smell.

Found. But since I promised to show a couple of options for installing a Christmas tree on hastily then you have to make a new one. This is a simple matter, but you never know, maybe someone will come in handy.

I will make a reservation right away. By Christmas tree, I mean a coniferous tree with a height of two meters. A meter stump can be stuck in a bucket of sand and not bathe. But this, to be honest, is not a Christmas tree. This is a potted plant. A Christmas tree is when a star is above your head, and not under your armpit. I have nothing against artificial. Beautiful, practical, comfortable. Just the sight of a plastic Christmas tree keeps giving me the same thought. If the Christmas tree is artificial, then why isn't Olivier made of papier-mâché? Logically, if the Christmas tree is plastic, then the herring under a fur coat should be synthetic. Plastic champagne, plastic caviar, dummies instead of gifts, latex inflatable guests. Comfortable, practical, beautiful. No one falls face down with a salad, does not vomit vinaigrette in the toilet, you don’t need to wash or eat anything, wipe it with a cloth in the morning and put it away. And that's it, I forgot. Well, is it great?

In short, I am a supporter of a live Christmas tree. And I try, if possible, to follow her not to the market, but to the forest. It's not about money, it's just somehow strange, living in the forest, buying a Christmas tree in the market from Azerbaijanis. The Christmas tree is not a watermelon. But on by and large It doesn't matter where the tree comes from, the main thing is that it be. And when there is a Christmas tree, it needs to be put up somehow.

There are a million ways and options. You can stupidly buy a crosspiece, such as this, in the market or the Christmas tree bazaar.

I won’t talk about the shortcomings of this method, whoever came across knows. If there is no time, opportunity, or desire to do this, then there are several simple, practice-tested ways to install a Christmas tree neatly and reliably with your own hands.

Option one. Cross.

The crosspiece, in my understanding, should be of such a design that it would hold the Christmas tree in the presence of randomly moving objects in the house, such as dogs, cats, children, drunken relatives. The only way to knock her down was to fall flat on her stool. You can make a reliable cross with straight arms and a minimum of tools in an hour. With experience - half an hour maximum. In general, according to the mind, the cross is made every time for a specific Christmas tree. She throws herself out with her.

What is needed for this?

Some kind of wooden base. Anything will do, a board, a bar, picket fence from a neighbor's fence. Last year, I bombed a pallet that accidentally turned up in the yard. It didn't turn out pretty, but it was reliable.

This time the base will be such a 5x4 bar.

To be honest, it should be wider. The wider the beam, the more securely it holds the tree. But what is, is what it is.

Tool. A maximum set - a tape measure, a hacksaw, a pencil, a square, a drill, a screwdriver, a dozen self-tapping screws. A minimum set - a hacksaw, a tape measure, a hammer, a dozen nails-hundredths.

We cut off, trying to observe the semblance of a right angle.

Let's see how it all fits together.

We measure the thickness of the butt of the Christmas tree. (Since our hole is square, then the butt can be cut in principle, made square. But if there is no experience, it’s better not to. You can grind the Christmas tree and get exhausted yourself)

Set aside this distance from the edge of each bar. (It’s better to take a little less so that the butt is well clamped. My butt is a little more than five centimeters thick. I put off exactly five.)

I immediately postpone the second distance, the line along which the bars will join. This is half the thickness of the bar.

We drill along the line a couple of holes for self-tapping screws.

Since my beam is thick, and the screws are not very long, the holes will have to be countersunk.

Done, you can collect.

Here's what happened in the end.

What is missing in this cross? As well as in those that are sold on the market. In order for the tree to stand longer, it needs moisture. The butt must be in the water. We cut off four cubes from the same bar.

We drill, countersink, screw.

Well, that's basically it. You can put up a tree. Having previously placed some kind of cap for water from below.
If necessary, we equalize the trunk with wedges.

The second way. Cup.

For this option, no tool is required other than a screwdriver and a dozen self-tapping screws. Still need some kind of massive base. I have two pieces of kitchen countertops lying around on my balcony, left after installing the stove and sink. Three more corners are needed. The range of such corners in every household is in abundance.

Everything is quite simple here. Find the center, draw a circle.

We put the corners, we turn.

You can put up a Christmas tree and fasten it. Five minutes time.
If you wish, you can take a polypropylene plumbing pipe of a suitable diameter

and cut off a piece.

Get a glass.

Pulling a pair of condoms on him from below, you can safely pour water.

Not particularly aesthetic appearance is easily draped with improvised means.
Well, like everything. It took me three times less time for all this homemade work than for writing a post.

Option three. Stool.

If it’s completely edgeless and there’s nothing at hand, you can stupidly turn over the kitchen stool and tie the Christmas tree to the legs :))

And in conclusion.

If anyone has problems with their hands, or he is a girl, then you can come and take this cross for yourself. I can even write on it "Hell daragog Raketcheg for eternal memory."

If possible, show how and what your Christmas tree is. Just wondering.

About the quality of the photos.
Since during the shooting, the shket went to some kind of New Year's performance and dragged the camera with him, the pictures had to be taken with what was at hand. A test smartphone was at hand

There is not much time left before the New Year. Soon, many will begin to think about installing a festive Christmas tree. By the way, we told in the previous article of the same name. But here's the problem ... I just can't find the old stand. We suggest that you do not waste time looking for it (you will find it yourself later), but quickly make a new wooden cross for the Christmas tree with your own hands.

You will need:

  • bars (2 pcs.);
  • wood saw;
  • drill with a screwdriver and a set of drills of different diameters;
  • several screws;
  • small piece metal pipe according to the diameter of the tree trunk.

Getting Started

  1. First of all, treat each board well. Give them the desired length. Make sure that each end is even, otherwise the tree cannot be skewed.
  2. Prepare the timber for the collection of the stand. Measure 0.5 lengths and cut a groove, its length will be equal to the width of the bar, and the depth will not be less than? thickness. Cut such grooves in 2 blanks.
  3. If you have PVA glue on hand, treat each groove with it. After it dries, additionally fasten the cross using self-tapping screws. So you are twice safe from the fall of the Christmas tree. But do not drive screws into the center of the future stand. There still need to make a hole for the spruce trunk.
  4. After collecting the cross, measure the diameter of the lower part of the tree trunk. Pick up the appropriate drill and make an opening in the cross. If the required diameter was not found, make a markup, drill small holes on it right next to each other and the middle will fall out by itself. Install the pipe in the hole.

Well, the simplest wooden cross for a Christmas tree with your own hands is assembled and ready to use! Now it remains to install the forest guest and dress her up with the kids. You can also make a metal stand, but we will talk about this in another article.

  • Even the most unsightly stand can be decorated so that it becomes invisible. What to use for this, fantasy will tell you.
  • Remember that the most basic characteristic of each of the stands, whether it be a wooden or metal cross, is stability!
  • Never place a New Year's beauty close to any flammable device.
  • Try not to leave the Christmas tree with a garland turned on at night.

The New Year's holiday will not turn out to be “beautiful” if the room is left without a decorated Christmas tree. As well as gifts, and magical Santa Claus, and a table full of dishes, a Christmas tree on a holiday should be a must. Even in the dark, she pleases, flashing the lights of garlands, sparkling with multi-colored tinsel and distributing the aroma of resin and pine needles to everyone around. It must be bought, brought and put at home for all the New Year holidays.

It is necessary to install the Christmas tree securely so that neither the children who play out, nor the dancing couples can move it. Those who prefer to decorate an artificial Christmas tree do not have to worry about the stand. A three- or four-toed paw always comes with polymer branches. But a fresh, naturally grown living Christmas tree needs a strong stand. And you can settle it for the holidays in a cross, made at home with your own hands. It will be simple, fast and reliable.

The structure into which the tree will be inserted must ensure its stability. Maximum security can be achieved by assembling a cross from four identical pieces of board, knocked down in a special way. It should not be bulky, so the bars need to be prepared small. It is enough to cut a board 7 cm wide into four segments of 30-40 centimeters. The thickness of the board should not be more than 2 cm, so as not to weigh down the cross.

Stability will provide a properly assembled design, and not the massiveness of the material. When assembling the cross, the first two bars must be placed in parallel on the long end. The distance between these extreme elements should be equal to the length of the bar, that is, 400 mm. Two other bars are installed between them, perpendicular to the first and parallel to each other. At the junction they need to be fixed. Inserts 100 mm long should enter between the inner bars, which form a nest for the tree trunk. The result is a structure resembling the letter "H" with two transverse crossbars.

The liners are sawn from the same board. Enough two ten-centimeter segments.

One liner is fixed with nails thoroughly, and the other is fixed with screws in pre-drilled holes. There should be several options. This will allow you to fix the butt of different thicknesses. The movable liner can be moved, taking into account the diameter of the spruce trunk. For even greater stability, if the trunk of the Christmas tree turned out to be thinner than the “nest”, a wedge can be used between the inner bars to insert it into the resulting void. The cross is obtained in a small size, so you can store it until the next holiday in assembled form.

Shortly before the new year, in many families, men will begin to think about how to fix a live Christmas tree at home. If the spruce is artificial, most often no questions arise. Old crosses, made of two battens with a hole in the middle, do not give the tree the necessary stability, and when there are small children in the house, this becomes a basic requirement. Often, even the old cross is simply not found among the many things that filled the pantry or basement.

We invite you to watch a video that shows the whole process of creating a cross for a New Year's beauty

In order to make a cross we need:
- board;
- screws;
- hacksaw;
- drill;
- drill;
- screwdriver;
- pencil;
- furniture stapler.

To create the simplest cross for a Christmas tree, it is best to take a pine board, it is best to take a thickness of 2 cm.

We cut the board into four parts, each should be 300 mm long and 80 mm wide. Dimensions are based on the fact that the tree will be about two meters in height.

On each part we make a cut from the middle to the edge at an angle of 45 °. And on the other hand, from the ends we cut at an angle of 5 ° (instead of the usual 90 °, to get 85 °). This is necessary so that when assembling our cross, a slight narrowing is obtained near the hole.

Trimmings should not be thrown away. They can be used as wedges to secure the tree trunk more securely.

After that, you should outline the holes through which the parts of the cross will be fastened together. On each part, two marks must be made, located vertically relative to each other, and the axis on which the marks are made must also be inclined by 5 ° from the vertical.

Drills holes according to marks.

Thanks to the inclination of the holes taken into account in advance, when assembling the cross, a trapezoid-shaped hole will be obtained for the reliability of fastening the tree trunk.
We assemble the cross with a screwdriver and screws.

In order for the crosspiece not to stagger and for the middle to be higher than the edges, we fill small fiberboard plates on the edges of the legs, securing them with a stapler.

Inserting the tree trunk into the cross, additionally wedging it with the remaining scraps of the board, if necessary, you can fix the trunk with frost for stability.
