The correct diet for cats. How many times a day should a cat be fed at different stages of its development? How to understand by weight about obesity or wasting

Not only the state of health and satiety of the pet, but also the calmness of the owner will depend on the correct and effective organization of the feeding regimen of the cat. Dissatisfied and not accustomed to a certain schedule, animals will constantly beg for food from the owner, or simply steal it. There is no exact calculation of how many times a day to feed a cat or a cat, you will have to proceed from your own capabilities.

Two meals a day for adults are considered optimal. When determining how many times you need to feed a cat per day, it is necessary to take into account a number of features, namely:

  • own daily routine
  • type of feeding - natural food or prepared feed;
  • age characteristics and health disorders of the animal.

With a standard eight-hour work schedule, you can feed your pet 2 times: in the morning and in the evening. Having established such a regime, do not deviate from it even on your days off. According to the introduced routine, the murka will get used to getting food at certain hours and will not bother you with hungry howls.

If it is not possible to feed the cat frequently, it is possible to switch to a one-time schedule, or even better, provide unlimited access to food. Of course, this approach will be more relevant if the pet is accustomed to dry food:

  • the daily portion can be immediately poured into a container for food;
  • the industrial mixture in this form does not deteriorate for a long time;
  • the adult controls how much and when she needs to eat.

In addition to the obvious advantages, ready-made high-quality feed has other advantages:

  • it already includes the amount of vitamins and trace elements necessary for cats;
  • you can choose a variety in accordance with the well-being of the pet - types of food have been developed that are suitable for individuals suffering from urolithiasis, allergies and diabetes, as well as for young and active cats.

Choosing natural nutrition, you will have to not only carefully develop the menu, but also carefully calculate how much a cat or cat should eat per day in order to receive the recommended amount of nutrients. In addition, in order to ensure full growth and good health for your pet, you will need to stock up on vitamin supplements. This type of feeding will require the owner much more time to buy food and prepare meals, as well as a more responsible and attentive attitude towards pets.

As cats age, more and more health problems appear. First of all, the teeth deteriorate, the gums become inflamed. If there are problems with oral cavity it is possible to change the feed from dry to wet, and when natural type nutrition - for liquid and softened dishes. Older and diseased cats are enough to feed once a day.

How often does a cat eat

If we talk about how many times you need to feed a cat a day, then there are no special differences from feeding a cat. The only thing to note is that cats, especially growing ones, have less control over their appetite, and therefore more often than females have problems with weight. There are many and often lovers of food, you must initially strictly limit the amount of food given out.

Contrary to popular belief that the nutrition of a neutered cat should be significantly different from the nutrition of an unneutered cat, both brothers can be fed the same way. Those who argue the opposite believe that the body of the castrato is more susceptible to the development of urolithiasis. In fact, the concentration of urine increases when cats drink little, eating dry industrial food.

Amount of food

Since all animals have different organisms, you should pay attention not so much to the number of feedings as to the daily portion of food. To calculate it, the following factors must be taken into account:

  • Quality of nutrition - for example, holistic-class feeds contain a large amount of protein and substances useful for the cat in the complete absence of ballast components, so they require less. Whereas budget products are characterized by the presence of a large number of extra additives, so the pet will need a large portion to saturate.
  • Caloric content is one of the factors that affects the number of feedings. To satisfy the hunger of the pet will need large quantity food with low energy value compared to more nutritious foods.

The total weight of the daily portion is determined depending on the weight of the pet: for every kilogram of body weight, 30-60 grams of food should fall. This large range is due to differences in the nutritional value of different foods.

Important: during periods of illness and recovery of the pet, as well as for pregnant and lactating cats, a special feeding regimen is required.

Is there enough food for the cat?

It's also important to periodically weigh your cat to make sure he hasn't gained weight. overweight or has not lost a lot of weight, because both have a negative impact on his health. For most domestic cats, the standard weight is 2-4.5 kg, so if the pet's weight goes beyond these limits, you need to change the approach to feeding. It could be:

  • change in the type of food;
  • increase / decrease the number of meals.

You can also understand whether a pet receives enough food by its ribs:

  • if the ribs stick out too much, this is a sign of malnutrition and excessive thinness;
  • if the ribs cannot be felt, this is a sign of obesity.

Normally, the ribs of a cat should be covered with a small layer of fat and not “shine through” through the skin, but they can be easily felt. For pregnant animals, an increase in the amount of fat on the sides is quite acceptable.

The body of each animal is unique, so it is important not to blindly follow the recommendations, but to select a feeding regimen for your pet, taking into account its individual characteristics.

How to water cats

Both cats and cats need enough clean drinking water. Access to drink for pets should always be free. warm water it is recommended to filter or settle for 24 hours, then serve to animals in a wide voluminous bowl. At the same time, it is necessary to monitor the cleanliness of the container and regularly change the water to fresh. It must be remembered that cats fed artificial food need more frequent and plentiful drinking.

The principle of action of dry food is that in a humid environment it increases in volume and fills the cat's stomach, providing a feeling of fullness. But with a lack of fluid, this process does not start, so the animal will need more food to saturate. In addition, the consumption of exclusively dry food without water causes more serious problems and health problems.

Having decided on the type of food, taking into account the age and health of your pet, as well as your own daily routine, it will be easy for you to set the number of feedings for a cat or cat.

Do you have any questions? You can ask them to our site staff veterinarian in the comments box below, who will respond to them as soon as possible.

Our beloved pets, like people, are subject to various urological ailments. If the cat has problems with urination, then this is more likely a warning about the presence dangerous disease urinary system. On the part of the owner in such a situation, the surest step is an immediate visit to the veterinary clinic. But this can not be brought up to, knowing exactly what the animal should be urinating. So, let's arm ourselves with useful information.

About urination parameters

The daily dose of cat urine formed in the body should be 50-200 ml. These indicators directly depend on the age of the pet, its body weight, diet, degree of activity. Newborn purrs pee once a day. As they grow older, the number of urination increases to 3 times, when babies are 6 months old, they can do it 6, and very mobile - 10 times during the day. Having matured, kittens begin to drink less and defecate “in a small way” about 5 times. If pets pee after sleeping and drinking, it means that they have no difficulties with excreting urine.

On the subject of how many times an adult cat should defecate "in a small way", there is no definite answer. Do not be surprised if you notice that he does this more often than a cat. Such a difference in the amount of bladder emptying in representatives of different sexes is due to physiology. Male cats have narrower urinary tracts than females. They are also more curved, which prevents the normal outflow of urine and forces them to relieve themselves more often “in a small way”. This specific structure of the urinary apparatus in male cats provokes the occurrence of urolithiasis much more often than in cats.

Normally, an adult pet should write from 2 to 6 times during the day. But if he is very lazy and motionless, that he won’t even go to the bowl of water once again, then he doesn’t go to the toilet more than once a day. Active animals that walk and play a lot, drink a lot of water, respectively, and pee more often. The amount of urination is affected by the diet of the animal. When feeding a cat with dry food, he should consume 3 times more filtered water than the amount of food, hence the frequent urination. Other natural foods consumed by the pet, to a lesser extent, force him to drink liquid.

About the causes of deviations from the norm in urination

There are cases when the pet emptied the bladder a normal number of times a day, and then everything was limited to urination once a day. These changes can be explained in different ways. Perhaps this is due to psychological reasons, including stress due to moving, change of owner; depressed, painful condition after undergoing a castration operation. The functions of urination in castrated animals should be restored within 3 days. It is dangerous when the delay in urine is more than 2 days. If the owner noticed that the act of urination in pet is accompanied by pain, traces of blood or sand are visible in the urine, then he should immediately go with him to the veterinary clinic. The pet may have urolithiasis disease(ICB). This is a dangerous disease.

Briefly about the ICD

On the formation of stones in the cat's urethra, bladder, as well as in the renal tubules and pelvis, climate and geochemistry, nutrition and vitamin deficiency, hormonal imbalance and the cat's own anatomy, gastrointestinal pathology and genetic predisposition, bacteria and viruses affect. Stones are of 2 types: struvite, found in 80% of sick cats, and oxalates, found in older pets.

Urolithiasis is characterized by the following symptoms:

  • Frequent urination.
  • Traces of blood in urine.
  • Prolonged urination.
  • Pain in a cat during bowel movements.
  • Frequent licking under the tail.
  • Pouring urine in a thin stream.
  • Emptying the bladder in the wrong place.
  • Changes in animal behavior.

With the development of the disease, the symptoms become more severe: the cat becomes depressed, loses weight, does not go to the toilet at all, convulsions pass through the body, vomiting and loss of consciousness appear.

If there are any changes in the behavior of the cat, you should immediately seek help from specialists.

Some owners are puzzled by the question of why the cat constantly asks for food. At the same time, according to the owners, the pet is fed in sufficient quantities several times a day.

To answer this question correctly, you need to know how many grams a cat should eat per day. Experts are sure that the amount and calorie content of food depends primarily on the weight of the animal. Other factors also influence this value. Among which:

  • the age of the animal;
  • Lifestyle;
  • health status.

It has been established that, on average, 60-70 kcal per day should fall on one kilogram of a cat's weight. For cats, this figure is slightly lower - 50-60 kcal.

If we talk about how many grams a cat should eat per day, then there is also a set value. On average, there are 40-60 grams of feed per kilogram of weight. For cats, this figure is similar.

When determining the amount of food for a pet, you need to take into account both of these quantities. For example, you should not give a cat weighing 5 kg 300 grams of food per day if this food is high in calories. It is impossible for this cat to overeat, receiving more than 350 kcal. In this case, the animal may become obese.

The owner, knowing the recommended amount and energy value of the pet's food, corrects these data depending on his own observations of the animal. So, if the pet is very active, lives outside the city and is constantly on the move, you can give him food to the maximum. That is, for one kilogram of weight, 60 grams of food containing 70 kcal. For example, a cat weighs 3 kg. Then in one day he can be given 180 grams of food containing 210 kcal.

If the cat is middle-aged, lives in a city apartment, prefers to lie more, then 40 grams of food, the calorie content of which is 50 kcal, is suitable for her per kilogram of weight. For example, the weight of a cat is 3 kg. Then per day should be given 120 grams of food containing 150 kcal.

Spayed cats and cats are prone to set excess weight. Therefore, they require slightly less food than ordinary animals.

If all these characteristics are met and the furry friend receives as much food as necessary, he will stop constantly sitting in the kitchen and begging or stealing food.

Exceptions

There are exceptions to the rules. It is possible that the animal is constantly asking for food because of some problems. The eternal hunger of a cat can be caused by the use of drugs, inappropriate, poor-quality food, and the presence of worms.

Constant hunger is the reason to go to the veterinarian for an examination. A cat that requires food may have high blood sugar levels or develop a digestive disease.

How many times should a cat eat a day

A pet should have its own daily routine. In it, a separate place is given to meals. Experts recommend feeding adult cats twice a day. Meals are organized in the morning and evening. A clear schedule has a positive effect on the health of the animal. In addition, the cat quickly gets used to the schedule and does not require food the rest of the time.

Separately, it should be said about pregnant cats and cats with offspring. They should be fed 3-4 times a day.

The owner of the animal needs to organize the territory where the cat eats. The pet should eat in a comfortable environment. To do this, he is allocated a secluded corner, equipped with everything necessary.

The shape of bowls for food and water is best to choose a rounded one. The best plate for a cat is the one whose edges do not touch his antennae. A cat's whiskers are an indicator of the size of the hole into which it can or cannot pass. If the bowl is too small and the mustache touches the edges, this will annoy the pet.

Bowls should be placed on a mat that is easy to clean. After each feeding, the dishes are washed. If there is food left, it should be thrown away, otherwise it will spoil. Dry food is not thrown away. It is in the bowl during the day. In addition, the cat will be able to eat them at any time.

If several animals live in the house, then they should have different places for food. You can arrange them for different levels. Otherwise, pets will eat food in a hurry, fearing that another four-legged friend will take it away.

Feeding kittens

For kittens, calculations for the nutrition of adult cats are not suitable. Babies need to develop and grow, so they need to be fed more than twice a day.

In the first month, fluffy babies drink mother's milk. This is the best food for full development.

Complementary foods are introduced from one and a half and two months. Usually the diet includes good dry food and meat purees. The food is mixed with water so that it swells and becomes soft. The number of feedings per day is 6-8.

As soon as the kitten is three months old, it is transferred to four or five meals a day. A similar regimen is observed for up to six months.

From six months to 9 months, babies are given food in the morning, afternoon, and evening. You can increase the number of feedings up to 4 times. At this time, the kittens are very active, they grow rapidly, turning into an adult.

Transfer to two meals a day is made at 10 months.

Catering

Pet food should be balanced. The most basic thing that cats need is protein. In food for furry pets, it should be at least 60%. The remaining 40% contains minerals, carbohydrates, proteins.

The most correct ratio of substances can be found in specialized dry and wet food. Convenience in these types of food is that on the packages they write about the energy value of the product and its mass. Thanks to the information, you can easily determine how much a cat should eat per day of this food.

You can make the right diet for a cat yourself from natural products. It is allowed to feed the animal with fish, sour milk, greens, rice, semolina, oatmeal, lean meat. When compiling the menu, the calorie content of products is taken into account.

  • sausage;
  • all fried;
  • pasta;
  • soup;
  • biscuit;
  • candies;
  • chocolate;
  • bakery.

How much should a cat drink per day

In addition to food, cats need water. Life-giving moisture is used to organize the work of internal organs. She doesn't give energy. However, without water, the processes occurring in the body will stop.

There is no exact data on how much water a cat should drink per day. Approximately adult cat weighing 3 kg per day consumes about 90-100 ml of water. That is, 30 ml of water is needed for 1 kg of weight. For kittens, this figure is slightly higher.

Cats eating commercial dry food require many times more water than cats eating canned, natural foods. There are three servings of water per serving of dry food. Crackers draw moisture from the body. It needs to be replenished. If there is not enough moisture, then salts accumulate in the bladder. The pet is at risk of developing urolithiasis.

It should be borne in mind that water enters the body of the animal not only in its pure form, but also with food. The tiny kitten does not need water at all, as she drinks milk from her mother.

The owner of the animal must ensure that the pet always has a bowl of clean water. The water needs to be changed once a day. Do not give your cat boiled water to drink, as it contains a high concentration of salts. Better fit settled water or filtered tap water. There is a lot of oxygen in this water.

It is important for pet owners to know how much a cat should eat per day and how much she should drink. This will allow you to organize the correct diet for your pet. The animal will be able to eat and feel great.

Nutrition for any living organism is one of the most important aspects of life. Domestic cats are no exception, so caring owners pay a lot of attention to questions about how often to feed a pet, and follow the rules.
After all, his general well-being, physical activity and mood depend on how carefully the diet of a pet is selected.

We make a diet for a kitten

Every cat lover will be very happy and immensely happy when a little fluffy friend - a kitten - appears in his house. This cute fur ball will make anyone smile even on the most rainy day, always give the owner a piece of his enthusiasm and infect with positive.

A small pet already has its own character and habits, but it still needs attention and education. And in order for a tiny organism to grow and develop properly, it is necessary to take care of the optimal diet for it.

How to feed a newborn kitten in the absence of a cat

There are very sad cases when a mother cat dies after childbirth or a similar force majeure occurs. And if there is no other cat or even a small dog nearby that can feed the babies, then the person will have to take care of feeding the orphaned kittens on their own.

Kittens age from 0 to 10 days

In the first decade after the birth of the crumbs, it should be fed with a special mixture that is sold in veterinary stores. You can use a pipette, but a bottle would be preferable, because the baby needs to develop a sucking reflex.

Feeding should occur every two hours for the first three days, plus mandatory complementary foods at night. Then you can feed every four hours.

The first two weeks, the amount of the mixture should not exceed 30-40 ml per 100 grams of weight per day. Also, do not forget about a small amount of heated water.

And it is extremely undesirable in the first month of life to offer a kitten whole cow's milk. A small stomach is not yet able to cope with such heavy food for him.

Kittens age from 10 to 30 days

Milk formula for a baby can be prepared independently, without resorting to the services of pet stores. This mixture should be continued to feed the kitten until the age of 1 month. All proportions must be strictly observed. The opposite can lead to indigestion in the little crumbs.

  • Cow's milk, preferably not from the store - 50 ml;
  • Chicken yolk - 1/2 pc.;
  • Powdered milk - 15 g;
  • Vegetable oil - 1 ml;
  • Grape sugar - 4 g;
  • Dry yeast - 2.5 g.

As a last resort, infant formula or diluted goat's milk can be used.

It is important to remember that food should be heated to at least 30 degrees. Closer to a month, the amount of the mixture should be increased to 50-55 ml per 100 grams of weight per day.

Natural food (list of the main important products):

Kitten age from one month to two

At this age, a fluffy baby is already eating from a plate with might and main. At 2 months, the size of the daily portion increases to 200 grams.

  • Fresh meat broth;
  • Puree of boiled vegetables;
  • Children's cottage cheese without additives;
  • Milk formula or milk;
  • Boiled yolk 1 time per day (chicken or quail);
  • Lean meat or fish (pre-minced)

The age of the kitten is from two to three months

At this age, a mustachioed pet needs to be fed at least 4 times a day. The volume of the daily norm in 3 months increases to 300 grams.

List of allowed products:

  • Boiled porridge on the water;
  • Lean beef or veal;
  • Raw chicken or quail yolk;
  • Kefir, low-fat sour cream or cream, fermented baked milk, biolact;
  • Low-fat cottage cheese;
  • Boiled chicken meat;
  • Raw vegetables grated or mashed boiled;
  • Boiled white fish.

Age - three months

From the age of three months, kittens need to gradually introduce solid food into the diet, because this is the time when babies change their teeth. The number of feedings is reduced to three times a day, and daily rate food increases to 360 grams.

List of allowed products:

  • Porridge with milk or water;
  • Low-fat raw and boiled meat;
  • Raw and boiled fish fillet;
  • Raw or scalded vegetables;
  • Cottage cheese or yogurt without additives.

Kitten age three to four months and older

The fluffy ball has grown a little, actively plays and is interested in the outside world. Now he needs up to 75% meat on the menu.

Here are some rules to follow when feeding meat to small kittens:

If the owner of a kitten who has already reached the age of four months prefers natural nutrition, you need to figure out which products, and most importantly, in what form, to use in your pet's diet.

Feed (dry and wet)

If the owner does not have the opportunity or time to prepare natural food for his pet, there is a choice between dry and wet food. Discussions about which one is better have been going on for more than a year. Neither scientists nor veterinarians came to an agreement. Therefore, the choice should be made based on the individual characteristics of the body of fluffy crumbs.

It is important to remember that dry food must be soaked in water for kittens before three months.

What is forbidden to eat a kitten

So that the ingredients harmful to his body do not get into the main menu of a small cat, you need to know the list of what you should not feed him:

  • All high-fat foods - whole cow's milk, cheese, butter, fatty dairy products;
  • Flour, sweet, especially chocolate;
  • Raw freshwater fish;
  • Corn, millet and especially semolina porridge;
  • Sausages, sausages, everything that contains a lot of salt and spices;
  • Raw pork;
  • Legumes and potatoes are poorly digested by the stomach;
  • Fast food.

Any veterinarian will also advise not to feed your pet with economy class food. They are of no use to kittens.

How many times a day to feed a cat

Today there is a huge number of options for food for cats of any type, size and age. Experienced breeders and veterinarians advise various options menu for the full development of the cat's body: from natural to dry and wet food premium class.

If you feed your cat too much, it will lead to overweight animal. Lack of nutrients will lead to depletion of the pet's body. Both options will lead to a deterioration in the health of the cat and the development of chronic diseases, which, in turn, can lead to an early death of the pet.

To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to properly optimize the nutrition of the animal, based on its individual characteristics.

Feeding rates by age

Each owner of a fluffy pet is interested not only in what to feed the cat, but also how many times a day it is necessary to do this. There is no single answer to this question, because everything depends, as already mentioned, on the individual characteristics of each individual. The feeding norm for a domestic British cat who does not go outside is different from the diet of a mongrel cat living in a cottage and having access to nature.

The daily norm of feeding cats depends primarily on the age of the animal. Small kittens up to three months old should eat little and often. Starting from the age of three months, a fluffy baby is transferred to three meals a day. Somewhere from 5 months, closer to six and before reaching the age of 1 year, you can gradually transfer your pet to two meals a day.

An adult cat, regardless of the type of feeding, should eat 2 times a day. This is the optimal diet for adults and is recommended by most veterinarians.

Cats over the age of 10 are considered seniors. Their physical activity decreases, appetite becomes unimportant. In this case, it is worth recommending that the animal be transferred back to three meals a day, gradually reducing the volume of single servings.

Feeding rates for dry food

How much dry food a mustachioed pet should eat per day is determined based on its age, weight and certain physical data. The average daily allowance for a healthy active cat is 250-300 grams. Many food packages have calculations for different weight and the age of the cat, but these are also average data for healthy individuals of average weight, and they may not be suitable, for example, for a neutered cat or a pregnant cat.

Many owners are interested in what kind of food is better to feed their pet, dry, wet from bags, or give preference to natural. For example, the better to feed a nursing, pregnant, neutered or neutered cat.

It does not make much difference what kind of food to feed the animal, if the diet is properly balanced.

Artificial breeds, Scots, Brits and others, as well as metabolically prone breeds such as Sphynx, are best fed industrial dry food throughout their lives. They don't fit the regular natural diet, dry food is the most rationally balanced for these breeds.

To determine the consumption of food for a particular cat, it is advisable that a veterinarian examine it and give its recommendations.

Wet food guidelines

Some breeders and veterinarians recommend the following proportions when feeding a cat with industrial food: feed 1/3 of wet food for 2/3 of dry food. Feed should be purchased from the same manufacturer.

Wet food is usually made in the form of canned food or in small bags (packs)

Do not forget that you can not mix industrial food and natural food, as the cat's stomach is hard to readjust to new food.

If an adult cat has been eating natural food since childhood, it will take him at least two weeks to accustom the body to store food.

Table

There are many options for distributing cat food depending on the age and weight of the cat. After all, there is a difference in how to feed a monthly kitten and, for example, an adult 7 year old cat. Here is a sample table for feeding a fluffy pet:

Cat weight

Feeding rates depending on the type of food

healthy eating

Nutrition for weight loss

For an older animal

40 g -
45 g -
60 g -
75 g 60 g 60 g
60 g
8 kg 105 g 75 g
10 kg 120 g 80 g

But do not forget that these are generalized figures, only a competent veterinarian will select an individual healthy diet after carefully examining the animal.

Proper feeding process

When the owner of a four-legged mustache decides on the type and amount of food his pet needs, you can deal directly with the feeding process.

There are three main ways to feed adult cats:

  • Free access to food system. Most often, such a system accompanies feeding with dry food. After all, it can be left in the air for a long time and it will not deteriorate. Often the owner is absent from home during the day and pours a large bowl with a slide so that his pet does not “starve”. As a result, the cat can eat the whole bowl at once, which, of course, will not have the best effect on his health.
  • Restrictions on the amount of food. This system is for cats prone to obesity. They calculate a certain amount of food that should be eaten at one meal, or use a special low-calorie food.
  • Feeding restrictions. This method streamlines the daily routine of a pet. The cat is fed at a certain time, in the morning and in the evening. Even if the pet did not eat all the food at one time, the bowl is removed until the next feeding.

For different ways feeding domestic cats now there are various electronic and automatic feeders. They are set to a specific time and serving size. Pet stores have a large selection of such devices. And what kind of bowl to buy more profitable, simple or automatic, is up to the owner of a fluffy pet, depending on the circumstances of his life.

Now every loving owner has the necessary stock of knowledge in order to choose the right diet for feeding his domestic cat.

If the pet is active, has fun playing and feels great, then its owner did everything right.

For any pet, including cats, the correct diet is very important, which must be strictly adhered to. It has long been proven that eating by the hour is more beneficial even for a person - an omnivorous creature and quite physically strong. What can we say about our smaller brothers! The better thought out the cat's nutrition and feeding schedule, the less problems you will have with her health and behavior. Accustomed to eating at a certain time and only from her bowl, she will not follow with her eyes every piece that disappears in your mouth, interfering at dinner with importunate begging. So how many times a day should you feed your cat?

For an adult animal, that is, from 6 months and older, the most suitable regimen is feeding twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Experts recommend not leaving food in the bowl for the whole day if the cat does not finish eating it. If the animal eats natural food, the food can simply deteriorate in a day and begin to poison each new serving of food. If there is a special cat's food- it means that you are overfeeding your pet, the portion needs to be reduced. After you have fed the cat, you need to wash the bowl cleanly, you can even completely remove it until the evening.

It is very important to remember that the cat must always have fresh water! Cats like to drink from large containers, and for the owners, this is the best way out, because in a large bowl the water does not have to be changed too often.

How many times a day to feed a kitten

It is quite another matter - small kittens, aged from birth to six months. They should be fed more often, but also adhere to the selected regimen. If you have to feed motherless babies, the feeding frequency should be as follows:

  • The first 3 days - every 2 hours, including at night.
  • Until the age of one month - every 4 hours, again, day and night.

You can start weaning from milk, completely transfer to complementary foods and feed less often: first every 6 hours, and then - in the morning, afternoon and evening. Kittens should be weighed frequently to make sure they are getting enough food.
