How to make a table in the gazebo with your own hands - metal and wood. Homemade lacquered table on a metal frame Do-it-yourself aluminum table

Homemade things are popular all over the world. The more popular culture develops, the more unique products are valued. Particularly worth noting are the pieces of furniture, because they are used daily.

It is impossible to imagine modern life without good table. A kitchen table, work table, children's table, computer table is a universal and vital element of the interior.

Advantages and disadvantages of homemade furniture

Furniture stores offer today's customers a wide range of tables. But not all manufacturers can boast of their good quality and reasonable price. And then, it is difficult to choose ready-made furniture for the available area.

However, there is always the opportunity to make a table with your own hands.

After all, such furniture has its advantages:

  • Handmade items are always exclusive, it will not work to make absolutely identical things. You can independently develop an original table project in any design style;

  • Quality and controllability. To create homemade items, good and reliable materials are selected. All details are double-checked, because this is a one-of-a-kind work;
  • Taking into account the parameters of the room will help calculate the exact dimensions of the future table. Thanks to this, the table will fit perfectly into the space and will be more functional than the factory sample;
  • The price of a do-it-yourself table will come out lower than that of a store counterpart.

Among the minuses, it is worth noting the following features:

  • If you are not a master in carpentry, then you will need some time to learn the basics of craftsmanship and develop skills;
  • No matter how much you would like, but the first creations, most likely, will not be so beautiful and ideal. Therefore, before making a table, you should try to make simpler objects, for example, in the form of ordinary shelves;
  • Quickly make a table with your own hands will not work. It is necessary to take measurements, prepare a drawing and templates of all parts, purchase materials and tools.

Tools and equipment

It is better to start making furniture fully prepared in technical terms. You should take a closer look at the tools that will be useful when creating a table yourself.

If you plan to continue making furniture in the future, then it is easier to purchase tools as needed, otherwise the total cost will be rather big.

To take measurements:

  • Construction ruler for measuring the width and length of objects, drawing straight lines;
  • Square - two construction lines connected at right angles. It is used for drawing and checking the accuracy of angles;
  • Roulette - a reel with a metal or plastic measuring tape, which is wound back;
  • The level is used to assess whether the surface of an object is horizontal or vertical. It is a rectangular case made of metal, plastic or wood with a flask inside. The flask contains a non-freezing liquid with an air bubble.

For cutting and carving material:

  • A hand saw or hacksaw is used for sawing various materials(wood, metal, drywall). Consist of cutting blade with teeth and holder;
  • The jigsaw is indispensable in both straight and figured cuts. There are manual and electric jigsaws. If material possibilities allow, it is better to immediately purchase the second option. They can process various materials;
  • A cutter is a knife with a powerful cutting blade;
  • The chisel consists of a handle and a blade, used to create recesses, recesses, figures.

For drilling:

  • The drill makes holes when the drill rotates, you can work with wood, metal, tiles;
  • The perforator is able to gouge holes in hard rocks, concrete, bricks;
  • Drill various kinds for drill and perforator;
  • Screwdriver is designed for screwing dowels, screws, screws.

For surface treatment and grinding:

  • The planer is used for planing wood, consists of a knife, blade, stop;
  • A belt grinder can process and give a decent look to surfaces made of stone, metal, wood, plastic;
  • Glue, brushes, paints for finishing the product. If the table is wooden, then you can simply varnish it.

Additional things that you will need in the manufacture of the table - a screwdriver, nails, hammer, pliers.

In general, the entire list of tools depends on the complexity of your project. It is not necessary to buy everything, it is enough to borrow some items for a while from friends.

Professional skills

If you are just starting to be interested in the process of making furniture, then for independent work you will need both additional knowledge and special skills.

To acquire dexterity in any business requires practice.

The following skills and abilities will be needed when creating a homemade table:

  • handling hand and power tools;
  • analysis of drawings;
  • measurement of the required parameters;
  • selection quality material;
  • production of templates and parts directly;
  • connection of parts;
  • product processing and decoration;
  • patience and care in the process of work.

For the first job, you should choose more than simple design or try to make a smaller version of the product.

Material selection

Wood furniture is style and quality rolled into one. A wooden table is traditional for our realities. Moreover, it will be ideally combined with other materials in the interior. Strength, environmental friendliness and durability make wooden tables one of the most popular in use. By appointment, such products are used both at home and in work offices.

Tables are usually made from arrays of the following species:

  • medium soft (linden, pine, birch, spruce, cedar, alder). They are easy to handle, they have beautiful view, durable and not so expensive in cost;
  • hard (oak, acacia, beech, elm, larch, cherry, cherry, ash), they are very durable, wear-resistant, beautiful, but their cost is higher than that of soft woods;
  • exotic (teak, eucalyptus, mahogany, suar, amaranth and others). They are resistant to moisture, dryness and mechanical stress, have an original look.

For the manufacture of tables, only dried material is used. The choice of breed depends on what and where you will use the furniture. A kitchen table, for example, must be resistant to scratches and moisture, so hardwoods are best suited here.

In addition to the above arrays, tables are made from the following wood materials:

  • Chipboard- a wood board made by pressing crushed wooden blocks (hardwood and coniferous), glued together with resins. May contain one, three or five layers and have different density. It is easy to process, strong enough, has good insulating characteristics and a low price. More suitable for office tables. It is undesirable to use for children's furniture due to the presence of formaldehyde in the composition.
  • The same plate covered with a polymer film is called chipboard. It can be used for kitchen, office tables.

  • MDF- a fibreboard made from sawdust dried and glued together. It is compact, holds its shape and fasteners well with its small thickness from 5 to 22 millimeters. The texture of the plates is smooth and uniform, easy to process.

If chipboard and MDF perfectly imitate wood, chipboard can imitate other surfaces. All covers come in a variety of colors and designs.

  • Good material for training in the manufacture of the table is plywood. It is a multi-layer slab of glued veneer. It is usually made from veneer of coniferous trees, birch or poplar. Differs in moisture resistance. May be polished or unpolished.

For the manufacture of the table, it is better to choose laminated plywood. It is perfect for home office desk or more simple solutions for a country house.

  • Another option for furniture for a private house or cottage is a table. from logs. To create such a table, a round log of coniferous trees is perfect. Round timber happens different diameter: small from 6 to 13 cm, medium - 14-24 cm, large diameter starts from 25 centimeters. Log furniture can be placed in the gazebo in the yard, in the garden or in the dressing room. Sometimes stylized log tables can also be found in restaurants. Some people equip a children's room with log furniture made of small round timber, because this is an absolutely environmentally friendly and safe material.

  • Wooden pallet table- simple and very interesting solution in home design. Pallets, in other words, are pallets. For a small table, a few pallets will suffice. You can assemble them, like a designer, and fasten them together. Great option as for coffee table in the living room or as an original bedside accessory in the bedroom;
  • Peculiar and durable tables can be made from a bar. It will last a long time and withstand any load. Any wood is suitable for making. To fix the parts, it is enough to use special glue and self-tapping screws. The tabletop can be made from both boards and timber. This sample will be a great solution for dining table big family;

  • A simple, stylish and inexpensive table will turn out using wood panel. It can be used in all rooms and interiors. Furniture shield - a solid sheet or a sheet glued from bars, the width of which is not more than 50 millimeters. Harmless, aesthetic, has a pleasant texture and color. It can be varnished or painted. Russian manufacturers make most shields from birch, oak, beech, and coniferous wood.

In fact, the shield is a ready-made countertop. One has only to cut the length you need and equip it with legs. Legs can be made from various materials.

  • It is worth considering a model of a homemade table from wood material, which is decorated with tiles. To work, you can choose any tile or mosaic elements. In principle, the table frame can be anything, but the tabletop should be decorated with ceramic tiles. To decorate, glue the tiles on the countertop. It is more profitable to lay large tiles, so there will be less work and fewer joints.

You can choose a tile with a solid color or with different patterns. The advantage of such furniture is that the surface of the table will not deform and lose its original appearance.

  • Slab table. Such an interesting word used to be called only monolithic stone slabs. But now the term is applied to the longitudinal and transverse cuts of a solid array. Each cut has its own pattern and geometry. They are made by bar, dining tables, bedside tables, coffee tables. Slab is successfully combined with glass.

Acquisition of saw cut in specialized stores will be expensive. It is much easier to order it from a local sawmill or make it yourself if you have a chainsaw and your own miniature sawmill.

  • Next idea - metal table. More precisely, from a steel professional pipe, which has a rectangular cross section. Such a profile pipe is a real find for those who want to create original thing. This material is easy to handle, it can be used to create various designs table. A table made of this profile pipe is suitable for both home and office with creative design and for outdoor installation. This material is very durable, the rectangular shape of the pipes and stiffeners provide stability and withstand heavy weight. Due to their shape, the pipes are well connected to flat coatings. Parts are fastened by welding or bolts.

Another plus is the reasonable price of profile pipes. It is worth considering that steel is a high-quality metal, it will last a long time. But first do not forget to treat the table with corrosion protection.

The only difficulty that may arise in working with such pipes is if you want to make curved parts. With the help of improvised means, bending them will not work. You need a special machine.

  • Aluminum profile you can make a frame for tables with various tabletops or solid folding tables for tourism, massage. Often, aluminum is used as a base for machine tables in workshops, with a top made of sheet metal or wood;
  • Unusual tables are obtained from metal water pipes . Such an instance will look original both at home and in the garage. Buying pipes does not require large investments. You can use old pipes or buy new ones at the plumbing store. Suitable copper, steel, galvanized. The main tool in working with them - wrench. You can choose the material of the tabletop according to your taste. The shape of the tables too - from a compact console or coffee table to a large dining table. It is better to cover the legs from the pipe with a protective material so as not to scratch the floor surface. If you equip the structure with wheels, you can easily move it from room to room;

  • Forged table looks in home interior very rich. Legs can be ordered from the masters. And the countertop is better to make and install with your own hands;
  • For fastening legs and decorating homemade tables use and steel cables. They go well with solid wood countertops;
  • Refresh the interior glass table , crafted by hand. Glass table will fit into any design style. Mostly, strained glass used for the manufacture of countertops, and the legs are made of wood and metal. Attach them with special glue or suction cups. Glass can be used transparent, tinted, frosted, colored, with ornaments and other decor. In shape - round, rectangular, irregular configuration. This choice is up to you. The glass cutting process requires special care and caution. For beginners, it is better to purchase cut and finished glass.

  • Brick table has various incarnations. You can lay down a brick structure on garden plot next to the barbecue grill. In an apartment or house, a bar table or a brick stand will become a functional part kitchen area. In a dwelling with a large area, brick will look solid kitchen set. Masters recommend using ceramic bricks. It is more durable and resistant to moisture, unlike the silicate version. Brickwork does not require large investments and supernatural skills. But it is better to think over the location of the table in advance. After all, then you will not be able to move it.

At the end of the decor, you can cover the structure ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, wooden countertop or a slab of stone;

  • stone products deserve special attention by the masters. A unique pattern, environmental friendliness, wear resistance, luxurious look - a chic set of characteristics. Most often, granite and marble slabs are used for manufacturing.
    1. Granite- This is the strongest material. It shines and is not afraid of mechanical influences, temperature changes, moisture, detergents and even acids. These countertops are just made for the kitchen. Granite slabs are solid, smooth, with a flat surface. This is the perfect creation of nature.
    2. Marble has almost the same qualities, the only thing is that it is not resistant to acids. And it is easier to process and shape.

  • Fake diamond made by applying a mixture of stone and acrylic resin to plywood. It is moisture resistant, easy to process, but subject to dyes, high temperatures, deformations in the form of chips and scratches. Therefore, care must be taken protective coating in advance. Or you will have to periodically grind it to eliminate the flaws.
  • Concrete They also make tables. It can be created by mixing cement, chemical additives, dyes, fillers in the form of sand, glass, stone chips. This mixture is poured onto a wood sheet with side contours.

There are a variety of materials with which you can manually create exclusive things. Some craftsmen make furniture even from ordinary plastic bottles!

It all depends on the imagination and possibilities. The materials discussed above can be successfully combined with each other.

An ingenious example of such a combination is a table-river. The basis of the tabletop is a wooden slab with original inserts made of glass, phosphorus, epoxy, metal. Such models are very fashionable and look spectacular.

Design

Having decided on the material for work, you should study the possible designs for the future product.:

  • standard table- the usual design without unnecessary details: either rectangular or round. Consists of four legs, tabletop, fixtures. It is stable and comfortable. Legs can be straight, X-shaped. Such a product is traditional for our life, it is often made of wood. And this is the easiest option that a beginner can try to make;
  • Folding design ideal for small spaces. When not needed, the table can be folded and removed so that it does not clutter up the space. It is convenient to transport such furniture in the car. Miniature folding tables are indispensable for a picnic in nature.

There are many options for a folding table. If it is made in the form of a pedestal with sides, then the folding sides should be shorter than the height of the pedestal.

For tourism, lighter collapsible structures are provided in which you can remove the legs and fold the table like a briefcase. Lacquered plywood, aluminum profiles, plastic top are perfect for arranging such a table. The legs can be removable, cruciform, straight, with variable height and its adjustment.

The folding design has various variations. To choose the most appropriate scheme, you should analyze the mechanism of their work.

Help save space regular sliding table, or in another way it is called a transformer. A simple example is the Soviet table, in which a rectangular tabletop is moved apart, then another part is inserted into its center.

Turn-and-fold design even more difficult. It is called a book table. It is much more compact. Special mechanisms are used to attach the main tabletop cover to the frame, and the sides to the cover itself. Such products can be equipped with a sliding drawer system.

Folding wall table consists of one or two legs. The tabletop is attached to the wall with the help of rotary mechanisms; when closed, it occupies a vertical position thanks to a mechanical lock.

coffee table crafted with two countertops, one of which is hidden inside the other. It looks like a normal table. But due to special levers, a small tabletop can be pulled out and fixed. It can move to the side or rise up.

"Suitcase", or "briefcase" made from two frames of timber, covered with plywood and fastened with fittings. The legs are attached separately, they are removable.

corner option structures are difficult to manufacture. Often written, computer tables are made exactly angular. First, a countertop is made, then the frames are attached to the back, blocks for shelves and drawers are made.

Functional purpose

By functional purpose tables may vary.

  • For example, regular coffee table pretty easy to make. In shape, it can be both rectangular and with a round or oval table top. It can be placed in the living room, in the hall or used in the bedroom as a small bedside option. Such furniture is made from various materials. The most common option is wood materials. Legs can be made of wood, metal. Wheels can be attached to them for mobility.

To make a table with an infinity effect, mirrors are inserted into the frame in parallel, a light source is placed between them.

  • Computer table by design it can be angular, rectangular or combined. In the process of work, you need to remember about the windows in the room - the light should fall on the left for right-handed people and vice versa. In this case, the light should not fall on the computer screen. The standard height of this model is 75 centimeters. But it all depends on the height of the user. For convenience, the legs can be made adjustable in height or clearly designed for your height.

  • Gaming computer desk they are usually made angular and with a special niche in the tabletop, or they pick up a chair with armrests so that their hands do not get tired and lie on the same surface, because people often spend many hours playing the game. A direct computer desk is convenient for professional work with graphics and photographs. It is recommended to provide niches for a printer, scanner and other equipment in products.
  • Desk, like a computer, has various configurations. But its tabletop should be wider so that it is convenient to work with documents and papers. Your performance directly depends on the design of the product.

  • Corner school desk for the student saves space in the children's room. At the same time, textbooks and notebooks, stationery should be placed on it. To contain everything school supplies ok, it's better to equip the product drawers. Adjustable legs will adapt to the growth of the child. If the apartment is one-room, then a rectangular table with a folding or folding mechanism will do.
  • Desk for adults it is better to make it large, without unnecessary details, so that they do not distract from the workflow. Loft-style tables are suitable for these parameters. They are made of a metal frame and a wooden or glass tabletop, under which drawers can be equipped.

A window sill table is an ergonomic solution. The tabletop is laid in place of the dismantled window sill and propped up with legs, racks.

  • Dressing table may have different functions. Often they are equipped with dressing rooms for artists, hairdressers and makeup artist's offices. It is advisable to equip this furniture with a backlit mirror with a good light bulb or led strip. After all, light is very important for the correct application of makeup and make-up.
  • home table can be placed in the bedroom, as well as in the bathroom or hallway. Women's dressing tables, unlike dressing rooms, are more miniature. And the mirror can be separately hung on the wall, not included in the design of the table. Wood, chipboard, MDF, fiberboard are perfect as a material for their manufacture.

  • Notebook Stand- a necessary thing. It is small-sized, protects the laptop from overheating, makes the work process more comfortable. It can be made in a folding version. Suitable for work while lying on the bed.
  1. An adjustable table on wheels is convenient if you are sitting on a sofa or in an armchair. Once you're done, you can quickly move it.
  2. Cooling tables are made in the form of a stand, leaving a special hole - a niche in the table top, where a small fan is placed.
  3. The compact stand-up laptop desk is a great solution for shop assistants. It doesn't clutter up the space.

  • Dinner table- a mandatory attribute in every home. After all, it is for him that the family gathers for a meal to celebrate the holidays. Therefore, it must be large enough and durable. For work, it is preferable to choose natural breeds. If you want to save money, then choose solid wood. It remains to determine the size, shape and design. The design can be different - simple, sliding, folding. Shape - rectangular, round, oval, semicircular.
  • Children's table necessary for the child from the moment when he begins to sit. The type of such products depends on the age of the child. Of the materials for their manufacture, linden and coniferous trees. It is better to sand all the details so that the child does not get hurt.

According to the designs, children's tables can be very different.

  • For the little ones there are tables for feeding.
  • A preschool child will draw, sculpt, play with sand and educational toys at game and sensory tables. Folding structures are suitable for them.
  • While the first grader will get used to the role of a student, an ordinary small desk will suit him.
  • Older students can prepare lessons for more desk or at a table-rack with a folding design.
  • Many teenagers like to spend time at the computer desk; corner option. It is better to provide all samples with shelves and drawers.

To select a model for a future country table, decide on its location. Basically, it is placed in the house, in the gazebo, on the veranda or terrace, in the garden or in utility rooms. For a garden and arbors, log models or simple tables with cruciform legs combined with benches.

An easier option is to create furniture using stumps. It is enough to attach a countertop made of chipboard, furniture board or ordinary boards and equip similar chairs. At the end, coat the products with varnish.

Table from improvised means such as wooden pallets, will add color to your terrace or veranda. To create a cozy atmosphere, it is better to provide them with similar chairs with soft ottomans.

If the area of the cottage allows, then it is better to build a large round or rectangular dining table from wood materials.

For a picnic or household use, compact folding structures using aluminum profiles and plywood are suitable.

Manufacturing process step by step

As an example, consider the process of creating a wooden model. Wooden furniture is versatile, environmentally friendly and durable.

  • The product must fit perfectly into the room and leave room for seating and room for movement;
  • The number of people who will use the product. For each, count at least 70 centimeters in width;
  • For children, consider age and height, stool features;
  • The shape of the tabletop can be oval, round, rectangular, square, irregular shape.

  • Size - most often choose a width from 80 to 120 cm;
  • The number of legs can vary from one to four. Their length and dimensions should be the same. The shape of the legs are different, but the upper part should end in a square for better fastening. The material may be different from the countertop. Finished legs can be purchased or welded from metal profile;
  • If you are a beginner, then choose a durable countertop material that is easy to work with, such as oak.

Having decided on the design, functional purpose and having chosen the material for the future product, you can proceed to the creation of a drawing. It is important to correctly and consistently perform all the steps, otherwise you will have to redo all the work again.

If there are ready-made examples of drawings, great, but carefully study them before using them. You can draw your own ideas on paper or in a special computer program. Specify the dimensions of each element.

It is necessary to make separate templates for all parts. Prepare the canvas, dry, clean, cover with antiseptics. Then the templates are transferred to the canvas and the details are made: table top, legs, fasteners.

Next comes the assembly - the connection of parts into a single structure by drilling holes and tightening bolts, using glue. At the stage of processing, the product is ground and coated with paint and varnish products. Carved patterns will help to decorate the product.

From improvised materials

To save time and money, craftsmen often use original materials in the manufacture of furniture. Some examples of how to easily and quickly make a table from pallets, plastic bottles, using hemp, a window sill, polypropylene pipes have already been described above.

But there is no limit to the human imagination.

Other interesting materials should be considered in more detail:

  • For a private house or cottage, you can make a table from firewood or logs. As a table top fit plywood, by combining several firewood, a stable leg is constructed;

  • It is not difficult to assemble a table from the remnants of a floor laminate. True, the countertop will be thin, but very beautiful and smooth. It is better to use laminate boards with locking joints. A shield is glued from the boards. While it dries, it is better to tighten it with slats so that the surface is even. To give stability under the countertop, stiffeners should be installed;
  • Unnecessary tires can be transformed into a mini-table. Along the contour, the tires are covered with round plywood on both sides. Then glue is applied to the entire structure and it is decorated. Such a product will be a wonderful decoration of the veranda;

  • You can also make a table out of an old suitcase, inside which small things will be placed. It is enough to clean and paint it, attach a plywood base, screw on purchased or made wooden legs;
  • Lining is considered a material for decorating the interior by cladding. But you can make pieces of furniture from lining. It is perfect for a folding table. It is enough to supplement it with legs from bars, make fasteners from self-tapping screws and fasten with connecting corners;
  • If old door cover with a glass sheet, you get a wonderful countertop for a dining table in the living room. Legs can be selected from a metal profile or timber. It all depends on the weight of the door;
  • Packaging cardboard makes good laptop stands, miniature tables for a nursery, or furniture for placing knick-knacks. Its only disadvantage is that the cardboard loses its shape under the influence of moisture.

Design

It is not difficult to make the finished product unusual and pleasing to the eye.

The easiest way is to paint the product. Lots of interesting design options. On any tabletop, you can place a three-dimensional pattern, simply varnish it or decorate it with multi-colored stripes or use a checkerboard method, stencils.

In the children's room, it will be practical to paint the countertops with slate paint. On such a surface it is convenient to write and draw.

In addition to painting, carved patterns are used to decorate tables (only wood), creating an antique effect, decoupage, stained glass, pasting with a film, mosaics, mirrors, lighting.

It is not so difficult to “age” furniture details. First, paint is applied in several layers, then it is selectively rubbed with sandpaper in some places. Thus, wear and tear is simulated.

Decoupage of wooden products is traditional for furniture in the Provence style. The technique uses paper napkins, fabrics with patterns in a floral style. They are glued to a wooden or glass surface are varnished.

Pasting with a film is also one of the cheap and uncommon ways of decorating. Films are suitable for any - solid color, with ornaments, with fluorescence, metal effect, imitation of surfaces of various materials.

Glass tables can be decorated with a luminous panel made of LED lamps or tape, or create a tunnel effect using a mirror bottom.

A mosaic countertop will transform even the simplest interior. As a material, both tiles and small stones, pieces of rocks, old music discs, thin wooden slats are used. If the surface is uneven due to the convexity of small parts, the countertop can be covered with glass or poured epoxy resin. On transparent glass tabletops, a stained glass pattern made with special paints also looks advantageous.

Thus, making a table yourself is a feasible task even for beginners in this business. Homemade products are in no way inferior in beauty and functionality to modern factory counterparts. Moreover, doing it yourself will bring not only a real result, but also spiritual satisfaction, a feeling of joy from the work done. You can be proud of the work done and proudly show it to your guests.

The profile pipe is a very multifunctional material. In addition to its widest use in industry, the pipe is actively used in private construction. When erecting small forms, craftsmen prefer material with a smaller section than in industrial use. The most popular are pipes with a cross section of 100x50 and 80x80 mm, from which frames for houses are built, outbuildings, gazebos and awnings. Fences with gates are also erected from profile pipes. In addition, recently, furniture made from a profile pipe, which is made from thin-walled elements with a section of 40x25 or 20x20 mm, has been very popular. How to make a table and a chair from a profile pipe, we will tell in our today's article.

It is not surprising that profile pipes are so actively used for the construction of country and home furniture - they have a number of undeniable and significant advantages.

  • Thin-walled elements weigh a little, so the final design has a slight weight.
  • Thanks to the stiffening ribs, a table made of a profile pipe (or other piece of furniture) will be very durable and will withstand fairly high loads. You can even make a workbench from profile pipes - and it will transfer almost any work for which you will use it.
  • The masters also consider the geometric shapes of profile pipes to be very successful: due to their rectangular or square section, they are compact during storage and transportation, easy to assemble and provide optimal connection with the planes. Which, we note, guarantees high stability of the structure as a whole.
  • The relatively low cost of the material cannot but rejoice, which makes it possible to save on details without losing quality and aesthetics.
  • Another attractive side of chairs and tables from a profile pipe is the ease of installation. Elements can be connected both with bolts and by welding. And for the last option welding machine you don’t have to buy or rent: household equipment is enough to process a profile pipe.
  • Wear resistance and indifference to aggressive influences (temperature changes, precipitation, etc.) allows the use of furniture made of profile pipes in the open air.
  • Products made from this material are durable. Even without additional treatments, the frame will serve for several decades. And if you protect it from corrosion - then almost forever.

The only disadvantage of a profile pipe is the difficulty in obtaining a bend. However, this problem can also be solved: in the absence of a machine, the element can be given a given curvature by filling with sand during bending.

Good start: the simplest table

Do-it-yourself table made of profile pipes

If you have never taken on the manufacture of furniture from this material, we advise you to start with the most primitive option. Maybe it’s not very aesthetic, but you can practice on it at work, and then use it as a workbench or give it to your schoolboy son as a desk - for teenagers, the furniture simply “burns”, and even a hyperactive child cannot break such a table.

To cut the elements you need a grinder

Action algorithm

  • Creation of a drawing indicating the dimensions of all elements of the planned product.
  • Cutting profile pipes into parts. In the simplest version, four legs-racks, two short struts and one long one are required. If you don’t like the “extra” elements under the countertop, you can make two short and two long parts from the corner, which will be fixed directly to the surface.
  • The frame is welded or bolted with a mandatory check for right angles between the elements. If you prefer the “invisible” option, the rectangle on which the tabletop will be laid must be additionally reinforced with corners.
  • The tabletop can be cut out of a fiberboard, you can - from thick plastic, you can take it ready-made by removing it from the old table.

In a similar way, you can make any other product. The only thing that is required at the initial stage of furniture manufacturing is a detailed drawing. All parts in it can initially be wooden, you simply replace them with elements from profile pipes.

For masters who have reached perfection: a loft-style table

With a lack of space in the room or unwillingness to clutter up the space in the room, we suggest building a two-legged table “fastened” to the wall. The manufacturing principle is the same, with some deviations from the topic.

  • Two legs are prepared, spacer structures can be completely abandoned.
  • The other two posts are replaced by sturdy brackets screwed directly into the wall.
  • All elements are checked for perpendicularity.
  • A tabletop is installed on the resulting frame.

Tip from experienced craftsmen: if you intend to use furniture made of profile pipes in the house, buy nozzles for legs in a hardware store so as not to spoil the flooring.

Original solution: wall table

seats

A table without seats is not very functional. The simplest of them is a stool. In principle, its production is basically consistent with the already described algorithm. However, for greater strength and ease of use, some subtleties must be taken into account when drawing up a drawing.

  • The frame under the seat must be sure that the stool can withstand the weight of a person of any size.
  • If the stool is high, like a bar stool, the racks must necessarily have a spacer frame. It can be welded either at a distance of 5-10 cm from the floor, or so that the seated person can put his legs on the crossbar.

When you master the manufacture of a stool, you can move on to the production of chairs and even armchairs. The base remains the same (if you made a stool with straight legs). To get a chair, it is enough just to cut off one of the pairs of racks of greater length and take care of the crossbars between the backrest supports.

Making chairs will require more complex calculations. All legs will have to be lengthened, but one pair is larger, the other, which will serve as racks for armrests, is smaller.

Bar stools must have an additional frame at the bottom

With experience, the master is able to make a solid dining set

garden set

For a suburban area, if you spend a lot of time on it and like to have tea on fresh air, a good solution would be a table with a bench, made of shaped pipes with your own hands. The set can be placed both directly in the garden and in the yard next to the house.

To make such a set, you will need:

  • Pipes with a section of 40 × 25 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm with a total length of 370 cm;
  • Pipes with a section of 25 × 25 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm with a total length of 570 cm;
  • Board 25x80 mm in the amount of 11 pieces, if the length of the element is 124 cm;
  • Self-tapping screws in the amount of 50 pcs. (we take with a margin).

Of the tools, a grinder, a drill with drills for metal, a welding machine, and a tape measure will come in handy. Step by step production is as follows.

  1. Pipes with a cross section of 45x25 are cut into the required number of elements.
  2. From the parts by welding, 2 brackets are made, from which a folding table should be made.
  3. The ends are welded with steel plugs using the mentioned apparatus.
  4. At the next stage, careful measurements are taken and holes are drilled in the right places.
  5. In accordance with the scheme, both types of profile pipes are cut - blanks are made under the bench.
  6. Frame parts are welded.
  7. The spacer is mounted.
  8. Pipes with a cross section of 25x25 mm are cut; a folding leg is formed from them. It is done with the letter P.
  9. The seams of the frame are cleaned and treated with an anti-corrosion compound.
  10. At the same time, boards are sawn into elements of the appropriate length. They are sanded to smoothness and impregnated with antiseptics.
  11. Finished elements of the tabletop are attached to the frame.

Lastly, the stops with the axes are fixed and the pipe ends are expanded.

Plastic pipe furniture

Also a very popular idea: such tables with chairs are very cheap, and they move without difficulty at all, since they are made of extremely light material. Craftsmen from plastic pipes are able to assemble anything from a shelving unit to a two-story bed. But it is recommended to start with something extremely simple. For example, from an elementary stool, consisting of a basic frame with legs and a seat. If desired, you can turn it into a chair by lengthening one pair of racks, as we did when making furniture from profile pipes.

Stages of work:

  • cutting plastic pipes according to the drawing;
  • frame assembly;
  • installation of legs;
  • installation on the seat frame. The basis is taken thick plywood, from which you need to cut a blank of the appropriate size. The "stand" is fastened with self-tapping screws;
  • welding of legs with a frame.

The final touch is to check the design for strength. If desired, a pillow is attached to the seat for the comfort of spending time on the chair.

Do-it-yourself furniture made of plastic pipes can be built collapsible using fittings. This option is especially successful for country use: when cleaning for storage, tables, chairs and other furniture will take up a minimum of space.

Having mastered the basic techniques of working with plastic pipes, you can make real masterpieces.

A rocking chair will require a high degree of craftsmanship

Professional processing and production of wooden parts is possible only with the use of a milling machine. You can fully use this tool in a special installation. This is the milling table. This installation is rare, and those options that are on sale are quite expensive. It makes no sense to spend a lot of money on the purchase of this design, since you can make it yourself.

Milling table: purpose, types

The convenience of using a milling cutter placed in the table lies in the optimization and safety of working with wood, as well as the speed of manufacturing parts. The principle of operation of this installation is quite simple, since the milling cutter does not move along the surface being machined, but the part moves relative to it. The milling cutter, fixed in the table, gives more opportunities for processing parts. As a result, the blanks of products are obtained as in professional furniture workshops with the appropriate equipment. Before making a milling table, you need to decide on the appearance and size. It is necessary to take into account the possibility of upgrading the table. It is important that the table is reliable and stable in use. The presence of drawers will create additional comfort in work.

compact homemade construction replace industrial machine

There are three main types of router tables:

  1. Stationary - a specialized design, usually bulky and unmovable.
  2. Portable - has compact dimensions and relatively low weight. This table is easy to move.
  3. Aggregate - the design provides for the expansion of the surface of the saw table.

Construction scheme

For self-manufacturing of countertops, MDF boards are usually used, pasted over with various plastic coatings, thick plywood or boards. These materials are easy to process, light in weight and durable.

Wooden structure is easy to handle and use

Some craftsmen believe that a metal countertop is the most durable and durable. They are right, but such a table with an electrical appliance will be an excellent conductor, which is unsafe. Also, the metal is prone to corrosion, so it must be painted.

Milling table tops must be smooth. Often they are made of plastic or metal. These tables have a perfectly flat surface that is immune to moisture. Phenolic plastics lend themselves well to processing. This is very convenient when making grooves for an aluminum profile or when drilling holes for the longitudinal stop fasteners. Like MDF, plywood and boards, these materials have reasonable prices.

In branded countertops made of steel or aluminum, holes are already provided for a specific router model. If the manufactured models of countertops are made of MDF boards or plastic, then firms prepare only holes for the plates. Although this does not always happen.

There are holes in the sole of the plate through which the router is fastened with screws to its base. These plates can be made of metal, plastic, polycarbonate or aluminium. The plate for the router must be installed flush with the surface of the countertop. If any part of the insert protrudes above the surface, the workpieces will catch on it.

The table top is equipped with adjusting screws or other devices to level the plate. It is better to choose a plate with replaceable rings. This is necessary to select the holes of the rings according to the size of the diameter of the cutter. This makes it easier to remove chips and other debris from the work surface. milling table.

Create convenience in selecting the diameter of the cutter

When performing milling operations, a longitudinal stop is often needed to guide the workpiece at the desired angle. In order for the work to be done accurately, it must be even along its entire length, located strictly perpendicular to the table surface and easily reconfigured for various processes. The front parts of the stop can be made both solid and in the form of several overlays. To accumulate chips and debris, the side stop is equipped with a pipe. The hose of the vacuum cleaner is connected to it.

The front parts of the stop in the form of several fixed overlays

The milling table can be upgraded with a bed into which the grinder will be fixed. More about self-manufacturing you can read this design.

Necessary tools and materials

  1. Joiner's glue.
  2. Bolts with nuts.
  3. Screws.
  4. MDF board and birch plywood
  5. Electric jigsaw.
  6. Spanners.
  7. Sandpaper.
  8. Ruler.
  9. Pencil

Drawings and calculation

To make a table for a router, you can use a separate surface, which is fixed in wooden supports or between two cabinets. The easiest way to create a table top, base and parts for a milling table is to use MDF board or birch plywood with a thickness of 16 to 25 mm. If the plate is covered with plastic, then there will be less resistance during operation. The plate laminated on both sides will not warp during operation. In our case, in the manufacture of the milling table, we used:

  1. 1 MDF panel, size 19x1000x1800 mm.
  2. 1 plywood sheet, size 19x1000x1650 mm.
  3. 1 plate, size 4x30x30 mm.
  4. Aluminum rails - 2.3 m.
  5. Wheel support with brake - 4 pcs.

Step-by-step instruction

The structure of the top of the table will consist of wooden parts that are sawn from a single 19mm MDF board. Birch plywood can be used as a replacement for this material.

  • Saw the sheet material into fragments according to the indicated dimensions.

1 - working surface; 2 - emphasis base; 3 - its wall of the stop; 4 - scarf (4 pieces, dimensions for 19 mm plywood); 5 - tsarga (2 pcs.); 6 - side bar; 7 - connecting bar (4 pcs.)

Before sawing into parts, it is necessary to check the thickness of the MDF board, as often it may not match the specified parameters or be defective.

  • It is necessary to remove the plastic lining from the sole of the router. In the future, it will serve as a template for marking the cutters on the surface of the countertop.

The plastic overlay will serve as a template when marking

  • On the largest sawn part No. 1, 90x70 cm in size, make markings for the cutter. To do this, draw a line in the middle at a distance of 235 mm from the edge, putting a mark. Then place the overlay so that the router adjustment mechanisms are closer to the edge of the table. Having positioned the trim evenly, mark the places for drilling holes that will be fixed with screws.

Mounting holes must match the trim

  • Measure the diameter of the lining and the distance from the outer edge to the cut of the sole, as shown in the image.

Determination of its diameter

  • From the middle of the cut part of the sole, draw a line perpendicular to its center, where: S = D/2-(D-H).

Measurements are taken from the cut of the sole of the lining

  • Using the holes in the sole of the lining, mark the future holes for the mounting screws.

Using an overlay as a template

  • In parts No. 2 and 3, drill holes for fasteners and cutters. At the base and front of the stop, make markings for semicircular cutouts, as shown in the image. Using a jigsaw, cut semicircular cutouts. Sand the surfaces.

There are no semicircular cutouts in the diagram.

  • Fasten four planks (parts No. 7) to the underside of the table top with screws.

Use carpentry or epoxy as glue.

  • Glue the rest of the blanks and secure them with screws. Install a router on the bottom of the tabletop.

1 - side bar for fixing with clamps on the goats; 2 - tsarga; 3 - countersunk guide holes; 4 - front wall of the stop; 5 - self-tapping screw with countersunk head 4.5x42; 6 - scarf; 7 - stop base

  • Now you need to make the supporting structure of the table. In our case, its height will be 820 mm. For this, a sheet of birch plywood 19x1000x1650 mm was used.

1 - external side stand; 2 - internal rack; 3 - rear rack; 4 - base

  • Cut plywood into pieces according to size.
  • Assemble the table structure, fixing its parts with self-tapping screws, screws, glue. The result is a frame with free space in the cabinets, which are convenient to use for storing tools and consumables.

1 - side stand; 2 - support on wheels; 3 - the bottom of the structure; 4 - inner panel; 5 - rear pillar

  • Then you need to make a mounting plate, which will contribute to a greater overhang of the cutter due to the tool attached to it. For the manufacture of the plate, duralumin, getinax or polycarbonate with a thickness of 4 to 6 mm is required. Cut out a square from the specified material, the sides of which are equal to 300 mm. Glue the sole of the router on it (using double sided tape). In this case, the overlay will be used as a template. Drill the plate through the holes in the lining. After that, remove the overlay and make recesses for the caps in the plate with a large drill.

Allows the cutter to handle the details as much as possible

  • As shown in the image, you need to place the plate and trace its outline. On the countertop, draw and cut a cutout, the edges of which are processed with sandpaper.

A pre-drilled hole will make the process easier

  • At the place where the cutter is attached, drill holes and widen them from the back of the tabletop with a 11 mm drill. Lay the mounting plate on the prepared hole in the worktop, aligning them for bolting. Attach the part to the sole of the router. Insert the tool into the worktop and fasten it with screws.

The holes of the worktop and the plate must match

  • For the convenience of working on the machine, it is necessary to modify the side stop and equip it with a rotary one. This will help further process the ends of narrow parts. To do this, you need to cut guides from a T-shaped profile into the surface of the plate.

Swivel and side stop make the process convenient

  • Install the guide profile in the front plate of the stop for fastening clamps, linings and protective devices.
  • To connect the vacuum cleaner to the machine, it is necessary to make a pipe for dust removal. To do this, you need to cut a piece of 140x178 mm in size from plywood. In the center of the part we make a round hole for attaching the adapter for the vacuum cleaner.

The part is made of plywood

  • For a stop, add a safety shield made of plywood and plexiglass.

Wing nuts are used for convenience.

  • For milling small fragments, make clamps and clamps. To do this, cut out the details from plywood in accordance with the dimensions in the image. When making a clamp-comb, it is better to use maple wood. To cut the part, you need to choose a section with a straight direction of the wood fibers. The slots of the ridges are best done with a circular saw on the machine.

Allows you to fix details when processing small fragments

  • Fix the guide with clamps. Sand all surfaces of the table, especially in places where milling work will be carried out. Clear All wooden elements from dust and cover with oil.

Safety

When working on milling machine accidents and injuries from contact with the rotating mechanisms of the cutter and particles of workpieces flying off from it are possible. Before starting the router, you need to remove all the tools from the surface of the countertop, clean its surface of debris and small particles. It is also possible to equip the milling table with a protective screen that will prevent the scattering of particles.

While working at the table, it is unacceptable to clean and lubricate parts, remove the protective screen and measure workpieces. Protective goggles must be worn to prevent the flying particles from getting into the eyes. This is especially true for high-speed milling or processing of bronze elements, cast iron or silumin.

It is necessary to cut the cutter into the part gradually. The mechanical feed must be turned on until the part comes into contact with the cutter drill. During the rotation of the milling mechanism, it is unacceptable to place hands close to the rotation zone of the tool. Before installing the drills, you need to make sure that they are reliable and durable, as well as the integrity and correctness of sharpening. Drills should not contain metal chips and cracks. If such defects are found, they must be replaced.

Video: Making a do-it-yourself milling table

Thanks to relatively inexpensive materials and your skill, you can build a compact design of the milling table. This will allow you to produce parts with high-precision cutouts and high-quality processing at home.

Hello!

This time I'm telling you about how to make a table in the gazebo with your own hands. It all started with the fact that a new machine came to our production. Instead of wooden pallets, a metal profile square pipe 50x100 mm was used at the base of the package. As unnecessary, they wanted to throw it away, but I took it to the dacha. Even then I did not know that I use it for the table. After another visit to the dacha, I realized that in my gazebo (I told you how to do it earlier in the article “ How to build a metal gazebo“) there is not enough good and solid table. Remembering that there is a 40x150 edged board in the bins, it was decided to use these particular materials.

Dimensions of my table: width 875mm, length 2000mm, height 800mm. Naturally, you can adjust the dimensions to suit your requirements, but I will tell and describe exactly the manufacturing process of my version.

What is needed for such a table?

Materials:

  • Metal profile 50x100x2mm - total length - 10840 mm. Now for the details:
  1. 710 mm - 4 pcs
  2. 675 mm - 4 pcs.
  3. 1800mm - 2 pcs.
  4. 1700mm - 1 pc.
  • Electrodes 3 mm — 10 pcs
  • Edged board 2000 mm - 6 pcs.
  • Bar 50x50mm - 800 mm - 2 pcs.

Tools and consumables

  • Welding machine
  • Roulette
  • square
  • Bulgarian
  • Cutting wheels for metal grinder
  • sweep circle
  • Plane
  • Hacksaw or circular saw
  • Black self-tapping screws 75 mm long - 36 pcs.
  • Screwdriver
  • Drill with a diameter of 3.5 mm
  • Black paint 1000 ml
  • Mordant 500 ml
  • Yacht varnish 800 ml
  • Brush 50-100 mm wide - 1 pc.
  • small sandpaper- 1 piece

How to do?

First, we take the existing profile and cut it according to the dimensions indicated above. After that, we select a flat area and weld the design of the table base. When welding, we use a square so that all parts are welded exactly at 90 degrees. At the same time, we definitely check the diagonals of the structure for higher accuracy of the resulting frame. Of course, errors are permissible, but as my grandfather said: “You have to do it well, it will turn out badly.” Unfortunately, I did not photograph the welding process itself, I was in a hurry and there was no time to have fun, but the design itself can be seen in the photo below.

Since the entire profile was rusty, it had to be cleaned. For this, I used a grinder with a sweeping circle. After cleaning, the frame looked like this:

After that, you can start painting the table. Personally, I painted the table in two coats of paint. Now the view has become more presentable

Now let's take a look at the table top. As I said earlier, I had in stock edged boards 40x150 mm 6 meters long. We cut these boards of the desired length, namely 2000 mm. in the amount of 6 pieces - just from two six-meter six two-meter ones are obtained (that is why the size of the table two meters long was chosen.

Do not forget about two 50x50 bars 800 mm long.

After that, we plan all the received wooden parts - boards and bars for the countertop. I planed from all sides, but according to the idea, one wide side of the board and sticks can not be planed, as they will be from the bottom of the tabletop and will not be visible.

Now we assemble the tabletop. We take all the boards and stack them close to each other, while I tried to pick up adjacent boards in such a way that the gaps between them were minimal. After that, on both sides we connect all these boards with a 50x50 mm bar using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. we get this table:

As you can see in the photo above, I cut the ends of the bars at an angle so that they do not spoil appearance table on the side. I connected each board with a bar using four self-tapping screws (two on each side). I arranged the bars in this way: the distance between the bars is equal to the length of the frame. This is done so that after I turn the table top over and put it on the table frame, the bars fit snugly against the profile. This is important not only for the appearance of the table (side view), but also for the reliability of the connection of the boards. These bars should not be nailed inside the frame, since the bars themselves will be short and they will not be able to hold the edge boards of the countertop, and it is on them that there will be the maximum load when used.

After that, I drilled holes in the upper guides of the metal frame for self-tapping screws that will fasten the countertop to the metal profile. On the long side, I made 4 holes on each side, on the short guide, three.

Now we put the countertop on the table and fasten it with self-tapping screws. We get this result:

After that, I removed the chamfers along the top edge of the table with a planer. I also cut four corners of the table at 45 degrees (to reduce injury risk). As you can see in the photo below.

Now we take and tint the countertop (in my case, the color is oak). You can not do this and leave just a planed tree. You can also choose any other tint color. I gave the oak color to the countertop using Aquatex, you can use other brands of antiseptics, as well as the most common stains on water based. Bedspread in one layer, can be covered in several layers for more saturated shades. Also, coating with an antiseptic will help save on varnish, since the antiseptic acts as a primer and the first layer of varnish is less absorbed into the wood.

Making furniture yourself is not only useful, but also very exciting, especially if such non-traditional material as drywall is used for this.

In the article we will tell you how to independently make a coffee table from drywall scraps.

Recently, it has become fashionable to independently manufacture furniture for your home. There is nothing surprising in this. Indeed, firstly, it is possible to make just such a thing that will ideally fit into the interior in terms of design and dimensions, and secondly, hand-made furniture fills the house with special comfort.

There are a lot of materials for making furniture - wood, laminated chipboard, metal or plastic. In this article, we will tell you how to make furniture from such an unconventional material as drywall, using the example of making a coffee table.

Drywall as a material for furniture has several advantages over traditional materials:

  1. As a rule, after repair, scraps remain that cannot be used for any purpose. Almost the only option for their use will be the use for the manufacture of furniture.
  2. Drywall is easy to cut and process. With it, you can make designs of complex geometric shapes. Therefore, the only limit to what furniture will be is your imagination.
  3. Drywall is easily finished and decorated with almost any finishing materials, from paint to natural stone.

Naturally, drywall also has disadvantages, the main of which is the low surface strength. However, a reinforced frame and puttying with a reinforcing mesh solve this problem.

So, we will make a coffee table with a tabletop size of 60x60x7 cm and a leg height of 20 cm. Thus, the total height of the table will be 27 cm.

Tools and materials

To work, you will need the following tools:

  1. Stationery knife for cutting drywall.
  2. Metal shears or grinder for cutting metal profiles.
  3. Roulette and ruler.
  4. Screwdriver or screwdriver.
  5. Putty knife.
  6. Sandpaper.
  7. Brush.

And materials:

  1. Drywall cuttings.
  2. Trimming metal U-shaped profiles for drywall.
  3. Self-tapping screws with a press washer 14 mm long and oxidized self-tapping screws with a fine thread 25 mm long.
  4. Putty.
  5. Serpyanka mesh for gluing seams.
  6. PVA glue construction for a primer.
  7. Acrylic paint and varnish.

Making a coffee table

1. We cut off six pieces of a metal profile of 60 cm each and eight pieces of 20 cm.

2. We connect blanks 60 cm long with self-tapping screws with a press washer in the form of a window frame, and then fasten the legs from short pieces of the profile - 2 for each leg, turning them with the concave side to each other so that they form a square in cross section. Thus, you get the frame of the future drywall coffee table.

3. We close the working surface of the countertop with drywall sheets. It can be in one piece, or it can be from several pieces, joining them on the frame guides. We leave releases on each side of the countertop 1 cm. We cut the drywall with a clerical knife. To do this, mark the cut line, cut the top layer of paper along the ruler, fold along the cut line and finally cut with a knife with inside fold. We fasten the sheets with oxidized screws.

4. Cut off four strips 6 cm wide. They will go to the sidewalls for the countertop.

5. Attach them to the frame.

6. For each leg, we cut out four drywall pieces and sheathe the legs with them from all sides.

7. The table is ready and waiting for a fine finish.

8. Glue the seams with a sickle, and then putty. After the putty has dried, sand it with sandpaper.

If you do not glue the seams with a sickle, then over time all the seams will crack, the putty will begin to crumble and the appearance of the table will be spoiled.

9. Completely putty the table, trying to align all the corners. After drying, all irregularities are removed with sandpaper.

10. We prime the table before painting. You can prime with PVA construction glue, it will strengthen the putty layer.

11. You can paint the table. Any acrylic paint will work for this.

12. To make the surface of the table more beautiful, you can decorate it, for example, make a stencil and use it to apply patterns to the table top.

13. We do this with a paint similar in composition to the main one.

14. So that the legs do not scratch the floor, we glue the foam trimmings ceiling panels and cut off the protruding pieces around the edges.

15. The table is almost ready. To be washable, you need to cover it with acrylic varnish.

In the same way, you can make any other piece of furniture. The technology will be about the same.
