Alocasia treatment. Alocasia: medicinal properties and use in traditional medicine, photo

Indoor plants that came from tropical and subtropical regions attract with unusual beauty. Recognizing the "biography" of a flower, we realize that it is valuable not only for its decorative effect. All home plants heal the atmosphere around them, and some are considered medicinal.

The air of the room where the flowers are involuntarily humidified and purified, the psychological climate in the house improves. All this is true in relation to alocasia, the medicinal properties of which are often of interest to its owners.

dialectic of poison

There are about 70 varieties, but healing properties are attributed to 2 types:

  • Alocasia large-rooted (A. macrorrhiza), known as arma or Indian arum, - tall herbaceous plant with bright green heart-shaped leaves almost a meter long and juicy petioles; it has a thickened rhizome similar to ginseng root;

  • Alocasia odorous (A. odora), a large plant with fleshy leaves, similar to strongly elongated shields, up to 1 m long.

There are cases when the rhizome of alocasia was passed off as ginseng, which exposed buyers to the risk of getting severe poisoning.

General property of all alocasia - toxicity. The juice contains cyanides and mercury chloride (sublimate), which cause burns and swelling of the mucous membranes.

The juice and pulp of the lower, beginning to turn yellow leaves are used in traditional Chinese medicine, but the healing properties of alocasia have not been confirmed in the European pharmacopoeia. There is no proven method for the manufacture of medicines based on this plant.

What is practiced at home as a treatment with arma is done at your own peril and risk. Therefore, information about its healing properties is offered not as a guide to action, but as an occasion to think about the dialectics of life, in which benefits and harms are closely intertwined.

Young leaves should not be rubbed in the hands and ingested. Do not let children and pets touch alocasia.

Benefit without harm

Not a single doctor will forbid admiring alocasia, the beauty of which improves the emotional state of a person: irritability goes away, family relationships are harmonized.

Alocasia leaves absorb hazardous substances that are released by plastic and paintwork(formaldehyde, phenol, toluene, etc.). Phytoncides contained in the leaves disinfect the air, fight influenza viruses, kill staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, E. coli. By this they support our health without causing any harm.

What's in my poison for you

The composition of arma juice has not been fully studied. It is known that it contains biologically active substances: quercetin, licuraside, hyperoside, alkaloids, coumarins, cyanides, a mercury compound. Alocasia is not officially recognized as a medicinal plant, because it beneficial features and toxicity are too closely intertwined.

The potential healing effect of arma is wide. She is believed to:

  • improves immunity;
  • fights viruses and microbes;
  • helps with swelling and inflammation;
  • relieves itching;
  • relieves tooth and joint pain;
  • prevents the growth of cancerous tumors;
  • tones the veins;
  • stimulates tissue repair;
  • works as an expectorant;
  • relieves spasms of smooth muscles.

Like arma, odorous alocasia also has an antimicrobial effect, relieves stomach pain, is used to treat tuberculosis, pneumonia, and soothes nervous system, normalizes sleep.

The line beyond which the medicinal effect turns into its opposite is determined by the accuracy of the dosage of the active substance.

Do not try to prepare such drugs yourself. This requires special knowledge.

I fly everything

The experience of Chinese traditional medicine shows that medications on the basis of arma, they can help with almost all types of diseases. The versatility of their healing action is amazing. So, tincture on the leaves of arma treats diseases:

  • gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea, helminthiasis, stomach ulcers, intestinal and gastric colic, enteritis);
  • joints and spine (osteochondrosis, polyarthritis, gout, rheumatism, herniated disc);
  • veins (hemorrhoids, thrombophlebitis);
  • respiratory organs (pneumonia, tuberculosis);
  • skin (psoriasis, rash, itching).

In addition, arma preparations work as an antidote for snake bites, treat prostatitis, help with thyroid enlargement, paralysis, malignant tumors, and heal trophic ulcers.

Important: never self-medicate, its consequences aggravate the severity of the disease.

harmful friend

Alocasia is harmless if admired. It is at least unreasonable to take internally prepared tinctures from armagh. On the Internet you can find stories of daredevils who, following people's councils, prepared these medicinal tinctures, took them and remained alive. The only thing that can be said in this case is that no one is given a second life. Take care of the first.

An absolute contraindication for all experiments with alocasia is age under 18, pregnancy, breastfeeding, heart disease.

If you, trusting traditional medicine, want to try the healing effect of arma, consult your doctor.

Cancer won't go away!

Studies on the antitumor properties of arma were carried out in China 5 years ago, and it was found that the water extract fights liver cancer cells. Traditional healers use their own method of treating oncology, using arma tincture in two-month courses.

In Russia, an official study of the anticarcinogenic effect of arma preparations has not yet been completed.

You can't take it with your bare hands

It is permissible to collect arma leaves, grind the rhizome only with rubber gloves and goggles. Getting on the mucous membrane, the juice of alocasia burns hellishly and causes poisoning. Wash tools, utensils and hands thoroughly. It is strictly forbidden to use undiluted juice and young leaves of arma, for the preparation of tinctures, old lower leaves are taken, which have turned yellow and will soon fall off.

Alocasia tincture

Alcohol tinctures are prepared from the leaves and petioles of the arma, which, according to the recipes of healers, are taken drop by drop inside or used externally for rubbing and compresses. To grind alocasia, plastic or ceramic dishes are taken; the knife and pestle should also not be made of metal.

Alcohol or vodka is poured in the same volume as the slurry from the leaves and petioles. Keep the drug suspension in a dark place for 3 weeks. The tincture is used externally to treat joint or skin diseases. The dosage for oral administration should be determined by a healer who knows how to apply arma in medicinal purposes.

The water infusion of the crushed parts of the plant, which is used for baths, also has useful properties.

Alocasia: reproduction and resuscitation of a discounted plant. Part 1

The healing properties of alocasia include several areas:

  • biological stimulator of reparative processes: allows the use of raw materials for the restoration of various organs and tissues;
  • immunomodulator - the body's defenses and resistance to oncological diseases are restored;
  • anti-inflammatory effect is actively used in the treatment of arthritis and arthrosis of large joints;
  • analgesic effect can be useful when rubbing into a sore back with osteochondrosis, trauma therapy, including bruises and sprains.

In 2012, in China, the antitumor healing properties of alokaziya on hepatocellular carcinoma were studied, where it was finally established that alokaziya large-root kills cancer cells in the liver. Official medicine has recognized this drug as useful for the treatment of liver cancer.

The drug is taken under the strict supervision of doctors. Suffice it to say, treatment begins with one drop of tincture diluted in a tablespoon of water, and increases every day by only one drop, and then decreases in the same order. A two-month course can be repeated only after a long break. The scheme was developed and used by the healer L. Kim.

The drug alocasia for cancer is used under the strict supervision of doctors and exceeding the dose is unacceptable. When applying the tincture, it is necessary to take into account its complex effect on all organs.

Alocasia flower useful properties and recipes

Alocasia has pronounced antimicrobial, disinfecting and analgesic properties. It has a detrimental effect on staphylococci, streptococci, tubercle bacillus and other pathogens.

The flavonoids included in the composition have antioxidant properties, protecting against viruses, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, and rejuvenating the body. Quinine stimulates the appetite and is indispensable in the treatment of malaria.

The plant is a strong immunomodulator that enhances the protective properties of the body. Alocasia has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, improves sleep, mental well-being, helps relieve nervous tension, cope with seasonal depression.

For internal use

The use of alocasia at home is allowed only if you are familiar with the rules for preparing herbal remedies. It is not advisable to exceed the recipe indicated in the special literature even in the minimum dosage. This can lead to disastrous consequences, since the plant belongs to the group of poisonous and dangerous to human health.

Fundamental rules:

  • it is allowed to use for medicinal purposes only those sheets that are already dying and independently moving away from the trunk;
  • carry out all work in rubber or latex gloves;
  • after preparing the drug, wash your hands thoroughly;
  • store the finished product separately from food products and in a place that is difficult to reach for children.

To use the healing properties of alocasia at home, prepare an alcohol tincture. For her, you will need 500 ml of 40% alcohol and 1 leaf of a plant that has fallen off naturally. The grassy part is finely ground and poured with alcohol. Leave for 2 weeks in a dark cool place. After that, the composition can be used for external and internal use.

For external compresses, it is allowed to use an undiluted composition. A moistened napkin is applied to the sore spot for 40-50 minutes once a day for 7-10 days.

For oral administration, the scheme developed by phytotherapists should be followed. It consists in starting to take alocasia tincture with 1 drop and gradually, by adding 1 drop per day, increase the amount of the drug for a single use to 30 drops.

Before taking the drug is diluted in 20 ml of boiled cold water(that's about 1 tablespoon). It should be taken at the same time, before meals.

After reaching a daily dose of 30 drops, reduce by 1 drop every day. Thus, the course of admission is 60 days.

This is followed by a break of 2 months, and you can repeat the reception of the tincture.

When side effects in the form of a skin rash, indigestion, nausea, headache, weakness, dizziness, the use of alocasia should be abandoned. The medicinal properties of the plant in this case can cause serious pathologies in your body.

Dzungarian aconite flowers are used to relieve acute rheumatic pains and to treat many types of sarcoma. The preparation of aconite enzymes is carried out on whey using the general scheme.

To prepare them, you need to take 3 liters of whey, ½ cup of dry or fresh leaves of aconite flowers, 1 tbsp. sour cream and 1 tbsp. Sahara.

The plant must be immersed to the bottom using a gauze bag and a glass weight. Let wander in warm room for 3 weeks or more.

The enzyme should be drunk 10-15 minutes before meals for half a glass.

As the main preparation of the wrestler (aconite), which is used to treat cancer, a 10% alcohol tincture of the roots or herbs of aconite is used. To prepare the tincture, you need to take 50 g of dried aconite roots, pour them with 500 ml of vodka.

Let it brew for a month in a dark place, periodically shaking the mixture. Pour boiled water into a glass, filling 1/3 of a glass at a dosage of 1 to 10 drops or half a glass at a dosage of 11 to 20 drops.

Then the tincture must be drawn into an eye dropper and dripped into the same glass as many drops as necessary. Medicines are taken 30 minutes before meals 3 times a day or 1.5-2 hours after meals.

The standard treatment regimen is a three-cycle regimen lasting 39 days. Between each course you need to take a break of 2 weeks. After completion of the course, treatment is either stopped or a break is taken, the duration of which is prescribed by the doctor. You can not take a break until the cycle is over. Otherwise, the healing effect becomes completely lost.

The most pronounced antitumor activity is characteristic of the alkaloids coniine and methylconiine, which are contained in hemlock. Hemlock juice is used as a treatment for breast cancer.

To make hemlock juice, you need to take ½ cup of juice, which is taken from the top flowering plant, it is poured onto 3 kg of sugar, mixed thoroughly and left in a cool place for several months (the temperature should not be lower than 8-10 ° C).

With hemlock tincture, poultices are made to tumors according to the following scheme: for 1 tbsp. water you need to take 2 drops of alcohol tincture.

Take before meals 5 times a day. For severe attacks, it is allowed to take 10 drops with water once.

From the hemlock herb, whey-based enzymes can be prepared. To prepare them, you need to take half a glass of grass, 1 tsp. sour cream and 1 tbsp. sugar per 3 liters of whey. Everything should ferment for at least 2 weeks. Such an enzyme is recommended to drink for cancer, uterine fibroids, coughing 10-15 minutes before meals, half a cup. This enzyme can be inhaled.

When using hemlock, you need to be very careful, because it is a poisonous plant. As a raw material, only young shoots of the plant should be used; they do not have an overwhelming and irritating effect on the body. Moreover, it is a powerful pain reliever for cancer.

Preparation of drugs requires special care. Even a microscopic dose of juice that has fallen on the mucous membranes will bring terrible torment. Possible skin burn. Therefore, wear protective clothing and goggles.

Alocasia tincture for alcohol is made after crushing the leaf and petiole in a porcelain mortar. Previously, the sheet is cut with a plastic knife and in a plastic bowl.

How much gruel will turn out, the same amount of vodka is taken. The suspension is aged for 3 weeks in the dark.

This tincture of alocasia on alcohol is used for external rubbing for joint pain and skin problems. For internal use, the course is selected individually, and the drug is taken under the control of a healer.

Alocasia oil is made by cold extracting the pulp from the leaf into olive or other oil. At the same time, 100 g of oil is taken per sheet, the process takes place in a dark place for 3 weeks, then the remaining fibrous substances are squeezed out, and the oil is used for 3 months. Apply it externally.

The resulting drugs are used:

  • with diseases of the bones and joints,
  • in skin problems, any dermatitis,
  • with varicose veins and thrombophlebitis,
  • benign and malignant tumors,
  • tuberculosis,
  • stomach ulcer.

While these funds are used in traditional medicine. Research on the plant is intensive, its medicinal effect is confirmed, but alocasia is not included in the pharmacopoeia of official medicine.

Taking the dose prescribed by the healer will not only help not to aggravate the disease, but alocasia will also prevent cancer. To obtain the composition, mix one spoon of the crushed mass of alocasia with a glass of honey and a bottle of vodka.

Shake until the honey dissolves, and keep in a dark place for 10 days. Shake before use.

Drink 3 times a day for a tablespoon half an hour before meals. After 2 weeks, repeat everything in the same proportion.

The preparation of a serving for one course is described.

In folk medicine, alocasia tincture is most often used, although for external use it has been successfully replaced with an ointment or oil. With the help of compresses, rubbing and baths with alocasia, a large number of health problems are solved.

It helps to forget about exhausting joint pain, prevents the development of thrombophlebitis, eliminates the need for surgery for varicose veins, and suppresses the development of nodes on the thyroid gland. Alocasia can cope with some dermatological deficiencies.

Compresses

With the help of compresses from alcohol tincture, you can treat:

  • sore joints;
  • mastopathy;
  • nodes in the thyroid gland;
  • spurs on the heels;
  • growths on the fingers.

Compresses should be done at least once a day, placing them directly on sore spots. Keep for 4-5 hours, making sure that the tincture does not get on the mucous membranes. The course of treatment is 7-10 days. If necessary, continue treatment after 3-4 days.

With the help of compresses, pain caused by swollen veins in the legs is significantly reduced. In this case, the compress is kept for up to three days, covered with cellophane and fixed with an elastic bandage.

Healthy veins must be protected from tincture by covering them with a dry cloth or napkin. It is advisable to minimize the load on the affected leg during the treatment period.

After removing the compress, continue treatment with daily rubbing with tincture. After three months, the effect will be noticeable even on those veins that were to undergo surgery.

Alocasia ointment is used in the form of local compresses for the treatment of long-term non-healing trophic ulcers.

Most commonly used for oral administration alcohol tincture from the leaves of alocasia or juice. The course of treatment begins with one drop per day, bringing the total daily amount to 30 drops. Having reached this dose, continue treatment, reducing the dosage drop by drop per day.

The drug is diluted in a tablespoon of warm boiled water. Take before meals, keeping a break of 24 hours. Between courses of taking alocasia should take at least two months.

It is applied inside alocasia:

  • with all types of tumors, including malignant;
  • for the treatment of blood diseases;
  • with prostatitis;
  • with problems in the digestive tract;
  • for the treatment of bronchial asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis.

To make a tincture, you need to take an old dying leaf of a plant, grind it and pour 0.5 liters of 40% alcohol or vodka and put it in a dark place for 10 days. For external use (for example, for joint pain, osteochondrosis, myositis), moisten a cotton swab with the resulting tincture and gently rub it into the affected area.

It is undesirable to touch the medicinal composition with your hands, so use tweezers.

Insist for 10 days in a dark cool place. This tincture is quite poisonous. Alocasia tincture should be taken in 1 tbsp. From this point on, take 1 hour. The course of treatment requires ml of tincture. If necessary, the course is repeated with some interruption.

Description of the houseplant alocasia

It is used for mastopathy, fibroids, including malignant ones. Alocasia tincture relieves pain in osteochondrosis.

Alcohol tincture of alocasia relieves itching from insect bites, cures skin diseases. There are two types of slurry: More juicy treatment is applied to painful areas in case of joint diseases, crushed - to the skin in case of skin diseases.

To 3 parts of cream or fat, add 1 part of alocasia juice or 2 parts of gruel.

What is important to know when making medicines from alocasia

Of all the varieties of alocasia, only one species, large-rooted, is used for medicinal purposes. The juice from the plant cannot be used in its pure form.

Alocasia refers to poisonous plants. It contains hydrocyanic acid. You should be extremely careful when working with her. It is better to harvest the plant with rubber gloves, avoiding contact with the skin. If there are animals or small children in the house, it is advisable to protect their access to the plant.

  • Alocasia, the use of which practically excludes the use of its juice in its pure form, is poisonous. This is due to the fact that it contains sublimate and hydrocyanic acid.
  • When preparing alocasia products and using them, it is very important to observe all precautions. So, to avoid poisoning, take it strictly according to the dosage. For external application - avoid getting the product on the mucous membranes and wash your hands thoroughly after the procedure.

Varieties and varieties of zamiokulkas species zamielistny (with photo)

In 2007, the world's first Zamioculcas variety, Zamicro, was introduced. Unlike the natural species, this variety is no higher than 60 cm and has smaller, graceful leaves.

As a decorative houseplant Zamioculcas zamielifolia is most commonly used. This unique type of Zamiokulkas got its name for its external resemblance to Zamiya, a rare gymnosperm plant.

What does an exotic zamiokulkas look like? Pretty unusual. Its trunk is in the soil in the form of a large tuber with moisture reserves, and 4-6 pinnate leaves rise above the ground.

The petioles of the leaves in the lower part are strongly developed and raised, which is why they are often mistaken for trunks. Cirrus leaves are densely placed on a short horizontal stem, outwardly resembling a rosette.

They reach a length of 80-100 cm and are covered with dense dark green glossy leaf blades. The climate of their native places has turned Zamioculcas into a succulent, where it grows in conditions of hot sun and drought.

Due to the wax coating on the leaves, the plant avoids burns and excessive evaporation of moisture. It grows slowly, new leaves rarely appear.

Alocasia has a wide range of useful properties, for which it has been widely used in traditional medicine, but first, let's consider its types and habitats. So, this is a beautiful tropical flower that has a thick tree-like stem and, as a rule, three main large leaves at the base of the stem.

It is interesting for beginner plant growers to know how Zamiokulkas blooms in nature and at home? Zamiokulkas flowering in nature is a rare occurrence, since this happens only at a very mature age.

AT room culture under appropriate conditions of maintenance, good care, the plant blooms with white and light cream flowers, but already at a rather old age. Inflorescence - cob.

Flowers of different sexes are located separately on the cob, female - from below, male - from above, and between them there is a zone of sterile flowers. Due to this structure of the inflorescence, its self-pollination is impossible.

In nature, the succulent is pollinated by the wind or crawling insects that live in the homeland of the plant.

The photo shows how Zamioculcas blooms: inflorescences consisting of an ear and a bedspread, which appear at the very base of the leaves at a very advanced age of the plant.

Reproduction of zamiokulkas by a leaf at home is as follows. In an adult plant, the leaf is separated from the central vein (rachis) of the compound leaf, the cut is sprinkled with charcoal, the cut leaf is dried for 1-2 hours and planted at an angle in a glass of soil so that 1/3 of the leaf is in the substrate.

Reproduction of zamiokulkas by a tuber is a fairly simple way that only an adult plant with large tubers can be propagated. The tuber, growing, divides itself, and daughter tubers are formed quickly enough.

At the next transplantation of the mother plant, the tuber is divided so that at least one growth point is preserved in each part. The larger the part taken for reproduction, the faster the developed plant will turn out.

After division, the resulting parts are dried for several hours, the cuts are treated with charcoal and planted in containers filled with a light substrate with a loose structure, not burying the head of the tuber much.

Regular moderate soil moisture begins 3 days after planting. Tuber division is not the most convenient way to propagate, as a new bush grows very slowly.

How to care for zamiokulkas in a pot and what to fertilize it

In room culture, the Zamioculcas flower is quite unpretentious, and how to care for it is described below. In order to provide Zamioculcas with favorable growing conditions, one should know the features of the environment for its existence.

Zamioculcas requires bright diffused light, but it also tolerates partial shade, so it grows well on the north window. With enough light, it grows faster and retains the brightness of its colors.

In dense shade, the growth rate of Zamioculcas will slow down, the leaves will weaken, and there will be fewer of them on the trunk. In summer, the plant can be taken out into the open space with shading from straight lines. sun rays.

For it to keep its nice shape, it must be rotated from time to time.

Zamioculcas withstands a wide range of temperatures, but this plant is thermophilic and does not feel well in cool rooms. It grows best in a warm room with bright diffused light, moderate watering and occasional spraying.

The optimum temperature for dollar tree in summer - 20-26 ° C. It tolerates temperatures up to 30 ° C, but on hot days it is advisable to spray the plant.

Zamioculcas is thermophilic, so in winter the temperature of the content should not fall below 12 ° C, optimally - 15-18 ° C.

As with other succulents, air humidity does not play a big role for Zamioculcas. Zamioculcas does not require leaf spraying, it is adapted to a dry climate.

But to maintain beauty, sometimes a plant needs to “take a warm shower” in order to get rid of the dust that has settled on the leaves, this procedure should not be repeated more than once a month. Sometimes you can wipe the leaves of Zamioculcas with a soft, damp sponge.

Also, spraying will not hurt him if the air is too dry. AT winter period time better plant water less often than in summer.

The dollar tree thrives in moderately nutritious, porous soil. Good drainage is a must.

The composition of the mixture of soddy soil, sand and expanded clay is considered the most optimal, which, if necessary, can be replaced with fine gravel. Certainly, the best option a purchased universal soil is considered, but if you decide to prepare the mixture yourself, then the substrate is prepared from leafy soil, peat, humus and sand (1: 1: 1: 1).

Caring for a zamiokulkas flower at home is not burdensome if you follow a number of simple rules.

Watering. The main rule for watering zamiokulkas at home is moderation. The plant can be flooded, so you need to water carefully. The fact is that its tuber absorbs moisture, which is necessary for normal development and growth. Thanks to this accumulation, this flower survives the drought. Therefore, it is better to underfill than to overfill.

The watering regimes for zamiokulkas and cactus are very similar. In summer, the flower is not watered often, but plentifully. In winter, the plant is left dry for several days, and only after that moderate watering is carried out.

It should be remembered that zamiokulkas must be watered only as the soil dries out. Between watering, the top 2-3 cm layer of earth should dry out. In summer, the frequency of watering is 2 times a month, in winter - 1 time per month. Water for irrigation is recommended to defend.

Improper watering can cause many diseases of the plant, as well as cause the appearance of harmful insects on it. With insufficient watering, the plant loses small leaves, when overdrying, all leaves can fall off, when overflowing, the leaves turn yellow and the roots rot. In the latter case, the plant will be difficult to save.

Top dressing. To ensure the normal development of the plant, during the growth period, top dressing is carried out with a complete mineral fertilizer, which must be alternated with organic. It is better to fertilize zamiokulkas in a complex way than with one type of fertilizer, because the alternation of mineral and organic fertilizers will make it possible to grow a large plant sooner.

The feeding period is carried out from mid-March to mid-September. To do this, use liquid fertilizer for succulents and cacti. This fertilizer does not contain nitrogen particles and has a slightly lower concentration than other top dressings. The frequency of feeding - 1 time per month, from April to August - 2 times a month. In winter, it usually does not need additional feeding.

It should be noted that liquid fertilizer is applied to moist soil no more than once every two weeks. This approach will avoid plant burns.

Zamioculcas grows slowly, new leaves appear at long intervals. Old leaves in the lower part fall off for a natural reason. Massive fall of leaves indicates improper care.

In order for the plant to grow and develop well, you need to know how to care for zamiokulkas in a pot. Therefore, the transplant is preceded by the choice of a pot for the plant.

The flower grows better in flowerpots commensurate with the size of the root system (growth accelerates when the roots reach the walls). If the roots of the plant begin to come to the surface of the soil, then it needs to be transplanted into a slightly larger flowerpot.

Before planting zamiokulkas, you need to properly prepare the composition of the soil. The soil for zamiokulkas should be loose and porous. Sand or perlite is added to it by at least a quarter of the volume. Good drainage is required. At the bottom of the pot, drainage is made of expanded clay, also a quarter. For better development of the plant in a new pot, its tuber should not be completely lowered into the ground.

It is better to plant zamiokulkas in a durable plastic flowerpot, since when transplanting it can be cut and the plant removed from there without damaging the roots.

Due to the small root system, the flower grows slowly, so young plants should be transplanted no more than once a year, slightly increasing the volume of the pot, and adults - no more than once every 3-5 years.

Planting Zamiokulkas is best done in the spring. It is necessary to work with rubber gloves, as the juice of the plant is poisonous.

At home, transplanting zamiokulkas in the spring allows the tubers to acclimatize better and grow green mass faster.

Contraindications

You can not use preparations from alocasia in any form:

  • pregnant and lactating women;
  • children under 15;
  • with individual intolerance;
  • with a tendency to allergies without prior testing.

Even just being indoors, alocasia has a beneficial effect. Being poisonous in nature, it neutralizes other poisons, purifying the air of harmful toxins coming from the street through opened window, absorbs harmful fumes from furniture and other items.

How to cut zamiokulkas correctly

The question of how to properly cut zamiokulkas can be heard quite often. With normal development, the plant does not need pruning, it forms its own crown.

Zamiokulkas are cut when they want to rejuvenate old leaves that have become stiff at the bottom or simply give some particular shape to the plant. If, due to improper growth, you need to cut the zamiokulkas for better branch nutrition, this is best done during the period of active growth - in the spring.

For the least damage to plant tissues, it is recommended to use a small sharp pruner. It can also be cut with a short sharp knife. The pruning site must be dried to prevent pathogenic microbes from entering the open vessels of tissues. For the same purpose, you can sprinkle large sections with crushed coal.

Zamiokulkas diseases and methods of their treatment

The following are the most common Zamioculcas diseases and how to treat them.

Destruction of the root system. During this disease, the flower practically does not grow.

This is due to overflow, which is the greatest danger to the plant. Watering was too frequent or there was no way out of the water in the sump.

This disease leads to the death of the dollar tree. The only way out of the situation is to cut off the cuttings and root them in the new prepared soil.

Dark spots on the trunk. Appear due to improper care of the plant. To eliminate stains, you need to reconsider your care regimen.

Wrinkling of the stem due to lack of water. Another cause of this disease may be hardening of the soil. It is necessary to loosen it and provide the plant with proper watering.

Often there is a problem when the leaves of Zamiokulkas turn yellow, which can be caused by the following reasons:

  1. Natural aging, due to which only the lower leaves turn yellow and fall off. At the same time, new leaves appear at the top of the plant. This is a normal, natural process that does not depend on care.
  2. Sudden temperature changes. In this case, the plant has massive yellowing of the leaves. It is necessary to check whether the flower is standing in a draft and whether a cold air stream falls on it.
  3. Improper watering causes yellowing on young leaves.
  4. Dry indoor air causes yellowing and drying of the tips of the leaves. It is necessary to occasionally spray the plant with warm water.

Thus, the answer to the question of how to care for a zamiokulkas plant is to follow the simple rules of watering, fertilizing, transplanting and pruning a dollar tree. As a token of gratitude, it will surely bloom with its rare, but very unusual flowering.

Alocasia flower how to care for it at home

At home, reproduction of zamiokulkas is possible in several ways. This plant reproduces vegetatively.

Propagation of zamiokulkas by leaf cuttings is the most preferred method. For harvesting cuttings, a well-developed complex leaf of middle age on an adult plant is used.

In the lower part of the leaf, leaf blades are removed from the rachis. For landing, you can take only a part big sheet- top 15-20 cm long with 4-5 leaves.

Sections must be treated with crushed charcoal or a root growth stimulator - zircon, root. After such treatment, they will be protected from diseases.

It is better to dry the stalk before planting a little. When rooting cuttings, it is advisable to use soil heating, as well as use phytohormones for better root formation.

Leaf blades and cuttings are rooted in a mixture of sand and peat (1: 1) in a warm place with diffused lighting, under cover with glass or polyethylene to maintain moisture. Under these conditions, the leaves form a rounded tuberous organ, on which the kidney and roots develop.

The pot with the cuttings is placed in a warm place and sprayed regularly. Rooting can take up to two months.

When the roots appear, the Zamioculcas stalk is transplanted into a small pot with a loose substrate (for example, soil for cacti and succulents). When planting in ordinary soil, sand, perlite, vermiculite are added for porosity.

In addition to the method described above, it is possible to reproduce Zamioculcas in water used as a medium for the formation of the root system. Choose a strong formed cutting and separate it from the mother plant.

Tropical plants that we grow in pots as indoor flowers are often medicinal, just like the local field and forest plants we are used to. One of these healers, living on the windowsill, is alocasia.

This perennial tropical plant belongs to the Aroid family and the genus Alocasia. It reaches a height of forty centimeters to two meters, depending on the growing conditions. In nature, alocasia can have both a herbaceous and a tree-like stem of considerable thickness, directed upwards. In apartment conditions - only grassy. The root is short, thick, stolon-shaped or tuberous.

The leaves of alocasia are evergreen, large with long petioles. At a young age, they have a rounded shape, which eventually becomes heart-shaped or arrow-shaped (depending on the type of plant). The edge of the leaf plate is even, in some few varieties it is slightly dissected. Their color is dark green, the surface is glossy. Most species have white veins.

The inflorescence of alocasia is vertical, having an egg-shaped coverlet from a leaf. The flowers are monoecious, small, yellowish in color, collected on the cob. The fruits are hemispherical red berries. Alocasia juice is transparent milky.

The plant grows in the tropical and subtropical forests of Asia, Australia, Central America and South America.

Chemicals present in the plant

It is immediately worth noting the fact that alocasia is not recognized by official medicine as a medicinal plant for the reason that contains several toxic substances. However, despite this, traditional healers - at first in places of growth, and today everywhere - effectively use alocasia in the treatment of a number of diseases.

The chemical composition of the plant has not been fully studied, but the studies already carried out are enough to say with confidence that it contains: cyanide compounds (cyanides), sublimate, senile acid, mercury, coumarins, essential oils, flavonoids, quinine, aymaline, hyperoside, quercetin , licuroside, phytoncides and indole alkaloids.

Saponins, glycosides and tannins were not found in alocasia.

Healing properties of alocasia

For medicinal purposes, we most often use mountain alocasia, which is the most common inhabitant of apartments. At correct use it brings an incomparable benefit to the body, while with a significant overdose it can also lead to death.

The phytoncidal properties of the plant help to resist viral diseases, providing a bactericidal effect. It has been noticed that if this tropical guest is present in the house, it is much more difficult to get sick with influenza and ODS.

The combination of several very active alkaloids at once inhibits the development oncological diseases, and therefore traditional healers recommend using alocasia as an additional therapy.

The ability of the plant to rejuvenate the body and increase the elasticity of blood vessels allows it to be used as a means for the prevention of heart attacks and strokes. In addition, it reduces alocasia and the risk of atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels.

The beneficial effect on the heart muscle, which the plant has, helps to cope with diseases that cause heart rhythm disturbances. With unopened forms, alocasia can become the main therapy.

The plant has a positive effect on blood circulation in the pelvic organs, as well as the tone of the uterus. Because of these qualities, the use of alocasia is justified for various gynecological problems, including oncology, uterine myoma and polyps.

Saves a tropical guest from reduced appetite, especially with anorexia nervosa. By actively stimulating appetite, alocasia promotes weight gain.

Infusions from the plant are also used to treat various diseases of the joints, as well as salt deposits and spurs.

With problems with the gastrointestinal tract and thyroid gland, alocasia helps to restore their functions.

This plant is also used to combat dermatitis and eczema as an antipruritic and anti-inflammatory agent. After exposure to the drug, patients immediately notice a significant improvement in their condition.

In addition, there are indications for the use of various drugs from the plant in pulmonary tuberculosis; paralysis caused by problems in the brain and various malaria.

Contraindications for treatment with alocasia

A complete rejection of the use of alocasia inside requires diseases of the kidneys, liver and hemophilia. It is also impossible to use the plant for medicinal purposes if it is intolerant. Even with minor allergic reactions, it is unacceptable to treat them.

In addition, the use of preparations from alocasia by pregnant and lactating women, as well as children under sixteen years of age, is not allowed.

Having decided to use this medicinal plant inside, we must not forget that you should first consult with your doctor. Without this, the use of alocasia is highly undesirable.

During treatment, there may be side effects which include: weakness, vomiting, dizziness, indigestion. In such cases, the plant should be stopped immediately.

How to use alocasia

Since the juice of the plant is very caustic, for the preparation of preparations they take the lower leaf of alocasia, which has already begun to dry out, but the petiole is still green. All manipulations must be carried out with gloves.

Alcohol infusion for internal and external use

To prepare the medicine, pluck with a petiole old sheet plants and cut it as finely as possible. After that, it is placed in a glass dish and poured with half a liter of alcohol. The composition is cleaned in a dark place for three weeks. After this time, the drug is filtered off.

Inside, the infusion is used for oncological and neoplastic diseases, as well as diseases of the joints, tuberculosis and heart problems. At the beginning of the course, they drink two drops diluted in a tablespoon of water. Gradually increase the dosage by one drop every day (the volume of water also increases). After the dosage reaches twenty-five drops, it is reduced in the same way to the initial one. Between courses of admission, you need to take a break of at least two months.

Water infusion for external use

One liter of boiled water is taken for one hundred grams of old crushed leaves. Drenched leaves insist at least twenty-four hours. Apply the drug for washing dermatitis and eczema.

Leaves slurry

For this remedy, used as compresses for diseases of the joints, old leaves of alocasia are taken and plastic container rubbed with a pestle (not metal). Compresses are applied once a day for a week.

Features of the collection of raw materials

To avoid skin burns with fresh plant juice, all actions for collecting leaves must be carried out with rubber gloves. Contact of alocasia in its pure form with the skin is unacceptable. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling. It is impossible to use pure plant juice or green leaves that have not begun to dry out for treatment. This will lead to serious burns and severe poisoning, which can lead to death without timely medical attention.

The use of alocasia as a medicinal plant is justified, since it has a beneficial effect in various diseases, but one should be very careful when approaching such treatment. If there is any doubt about the correct preparation of the drug, its use should be abandoned.

Alokaziya (arum) is an evergreen perennial ornamental tuberous herbaceous houseplant of the aroid family with large dense oval-heart-shaped leaves on succulent long petioles and thick rhizome. It is the surprisingly beautiful large leaves that are the main decoration of this flower. They can be green in color, variegated, and also with very thick veins. It is also interesting that no more than 3 of them grow on the stem, since when the 4th leaf appears, the very first one dries up and then dies off. In addition, studies have revealed the complete absence of anthracene derivatives, tannins and saponins, fluroglucins and cardiac glycosides in the arma.

Alocasia plant: medicinal properties

With its strong toxicity, and probably because of it, arma has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat cancer. The anti-cancer potential of the plant, namely its aqueous extract, was studied at Sichuan University. Such procedures for gouty bumps should be carried out every day before bedtime; the exposure period is 20 minutes. After the procedure, diseased joints must be wrapped in a woolen cloth.
